After seeing Transformers Original Series and the Bayformers. (Both of Which I love Mind you)I will have to say that compaired to their G1 counterparts Bayformers are Pussies. What is you thought.

Please elaborate so. Or let your statement die in vain.

Not sure how. Until the '86 movie, nobody died. I don't think humans ever die in G1 (not positive). In the bayverse, people and bots/cons were decimated.

Are we going by the information given in tech specs for the power levels of the original G1 transformers? Because if so, yeah, they're pretty much god-tier.

Even going by the cartoon, the G1 bots had some pretty amazing abilities compared to the Bayformers, though they never really showed the killer edge that the Bayformers did. If they engaged them with equal ferocity, however, the Bayformers would have a tough time standing up to them. G1 Megatron shrugging off the fire of an army while laughing compared to Movie Megatron being injured by an airstrike is a good summary of these differences, I'd say.

That being said, the limitations on the Bayformers made a lot more sense to me in a live-action setting, and came off as considerably more "realistic" to me than the G1 approach to cybertronian abilities would have.

I like that. I think we are much more willing to accept "fantastical" or "unbelievable" outcomes when watching animated media versus live-action. The live action offers a veil of "realism" (despite the fact the subject matter is itself fantastical) where we are much less willing to accept something like a full out attack not scratching Megatron, for example. Good point.

The other side of this of course is all the people who are used to god-tier, nigh invincible robots in the cartoons complaining about what a wimp Bay Movie Megatron--or any other character, for that matter--was to have been beaten by a bunch of humans. There really isn't any winning with this: on the one hand, we have the veil of realism dictating that nothing is ACTUALLY invincible, and on the other hand we have tightly fitted nostalgia goggles insisting that yes, yes they totally are.

They are both poorly plotted and exist to only sell products.

At the end of the day I prefer Beast Wars, Armada, Cybertron, Animated and Prime.

Both of them suck ass, it's just one of them managed to spawn a franchise that's lasted since the 80's and given rise to better fiction such as MTMTE, Beast Wars, and Animated.

MTMTE is better? I flipped through a TPB at Barnes and Noble and couldn't get into it. I know lots of people consider it the holy grail, but I found it unexciting.

I'm with you on Beast Wars and Animated, though.

I certainly don't mean to belittle your opinion. i am curious what, exactly, do you think was the point of BW, Armada, Cybertron, Animated or Prime? Hasbro, while branching out a bit recently, is still a toy company. The whole point of ANY Hasbro franchise is to sell toys.

Yes, but sometimes they do so with slightly better plot or writing.

Which I think was the point being gotten at.

Apples and oranges, apples and oranges. They're wholly different representations, much like how the A/E/C representations are totally different than G1. I still prefer the G1 counterparts, due to the deeper lore and characterizations in the comics from Marvel to IDW.
