Oh they make lots of money, but box office money can't buy you the respect of being a timeless beloved classic or buy you the Best Picture Oscar. No matter how much money the films make it's just never going to be enough to get everyone to love the movies nor will it ever be enough to stop some people from dismissing the films as mindless summer action films.

Plus the problem of in an ever shifting film market a place high up on the box office list is always in danger of being dethroned. The first few films to hit the billion mark seemed almost crazy but with several films each year hitting the billion mark it's just not as impressive as it used to be.

    I'm really not. =/

I like fantasy to a certain degree, if you were to consider things like Spider-Man and The Avengers fantasy, but when it comes to magic and spells, it just puts me in a snooze. I think that's why I prefer things like Fallout, since, while they're not terribly likely, they add a bit more realism.

Might even be why I love Titanic. Mixes just the right bit of fantasy with the right bit of real. No, there wasn't really a Jack and Rose, but yes, Captain Smith and Asshole McIsmay really did have that conversation about lighting all the boilers (a woman at the disaster inquiry actually testified to overhearing it in the place it happened in the movie, and interestingly enough, Cameron gave a nod to that with a similar looking woman in the scene).

Hooo, boy, don't I know it. That's exactly the reason I prefer the weirder settings like Eberron to the bigger names like Forgotten Realms, and probably the big reason I can't get into Pathfinder.

Define "undeserved". Because it's not like the Bay films marketed themselves as anything other than what they delivered, or stole money, or put a gun to the heads of their audience in forcing them to see the film. They may not have met the standard you're looking for, but they scratched an itch a lot of people were willing to pay to have scratched. Plenty of shitty films do.

Out of all the Tolkien rip-offs Warhammer will always have a special place in my heart.

I still have my Lizardmen army somewhene in the house.

Never cared for the 40k stuff.

This list is so damn biased it's not even funny. How are you about to put all 3 TF movies on the "worst movies of all time" list? Sure, they weren't "instant classics", but the reality is, most film trilogies never are. Some get away with it, but most don't cut it. The transformers movies might not be the best movies of all time, but they fulfill their purpose to be awesome action movies about robots in disguise that are fighting an epic war on a small planet called earth, with the humans caught right in the middle.

What about True Lies? That movie was funny. But yes T2 is his masterpiece.

I keep reading this post but it keeps saying "T2" and not the correct "Aliens".

People really think T2 is his masterpiece, rather then the far, far more deserving Aliens or even the original Terminator? I mean, come on, guys. Those are two of the best movies ever made, which T2 was definitely not.

I disagree with that statement, strongly.

Terminator, Terminator 2 and Aliens comprise the Holy Trinity of Cameron's filmography and are why I can forgive for almost any cinematic sin.

Terminator 2: Judgement Day is a great movie. Like Aliens before it, it is also a different movie to its previous entry; moving away from the intense horror and trading up to blazing action.

I agree that Aliens is his best movie, and probably one of the best movies ever made. I also think that Terminator 2 sits quite firmly as his second best movie. Followed by Terminator and then True Lies.

The thing is, D&D isn't a rip-off of Tolkien. Gygax and group was inspired by Conan, Lankhmar, Andre Norton and a whole bunch of others far more than Tolkien. Poul Anderson's "Three Hearts and Three Lions" is one of D&D's biggest inspirations.

Gygax added hobbits (then got sued by Tolkien's estate and renamed them halflings) and rangers in Aragorn's style because he knew Tolkien was popular and he 'had to' give it something in D&D. But, Gygax wasn't a fan of Tolkien, and D&D wasn't a rip-off of Tolkien.

LATER D&D may have become 'more Tolkien-rip', but it didn't start as a Tolkien rip-off. That wasn't Gygax's intent.

Not like it matters. Tolkien himself ripped off of better authors and stories. Tolkien's as much a rip-off as any of his graverobbing imitators are a rip-off of his.

Thing is though, this is a tangent. But it gets my goat when someone says D&D rips off Tolkien, when it didn't.

I disagree mostly because Terminator 2 left such gigantic, unresolved plot-holes that the rest of the movie felt stupid due to them. I understand that they were going for a different feel, but the whole time paradox created by the ending that gets zero mention is just too big for me to ignore.

Examples would be nice, although I feel like they'll be no proper ones.

Depends which insane sort of time travel method you prefer. As an exercise in logic, Terminator 2 falls down in the same way most movies that use time travel (except maybe The Final Countdown) do, paradoxs and God knows what else.

Taken as a dramatic narrative thought, T2 I find to be pretty damn good. Everyone, even Arnold, turns in a performance that fits their characters wonderfully, the music and sound are excellent and some of the stunt set peices are, even when measured against their contemporaries still bloody amazing: 90% practical effects baby, gotta love it.

.......sorry I think we both went off topic here.

The list is a sham, and the only one of the TF movies that really deserves to be there is Revenge of the Fallen. The other two are good movies that have a few issues making them skirt greatness for my cash but are still head and shoulders above some of the tripe that is there.

The list is going to be wrong for everyone. There's always going to be people going 'That shouldn't be on there!' or 'Where's *movie I think is shit*?'. It's the eternal basic problem with Best Of and Worst Of lists. Everyone here could make their own list and none of them would match. They're never a definitive indicator of the world's likes and dislikes.

So people shouldn't get steamed over any of the inclusions or exclusions of this list as in the end it comes down to being just the choices of the people involved. And in the grand scheme of things means ultimately nothing. These lists are created to make people annoyed. So what BayFormers is on there? It's not like now Hasbro is legally obligated to put 'Rifftrax Worst Movie of all Time Nominated!' on all their Transformers products from now on.

    Go RIFFTRAX !

true, true. Not to mention Star Trek 2009 not being Star Trek at all.

Actually I found MT3K more boring than Riff.

Love your thinking, and yes I do agree with you to some extent. TF1 was generally pretty good. But I guess, they were expecting someone else to take the rein in TF3 after TF2, and that didn't happen so.....voila ! Judgement has been laid. Can't entirely blame Rifftrax for that. I find it really hard to believe that TF3 is not its own movie cause of so many things that happened.

Good fellow. Directors only got ONE SHOT to make a movie. So you better make it count. I'd rather get it right the 1st time than at the 3rd time.

TF1 passable, TF2 not going there, TF3 it be better if it were its own movie.

Oh sir. You shouldn't have. I love RLM !!!! Not to mention all the hype about Dark Knight Rises; RLM : so why did Bane wait for 5-6 months just to detonate the bomb and make it convenient for Batman to return ?

    LOL
