I think the most interesting part about this thread is that it's making me think about opinions, in general, rather than just the specific opinions about Bayformers vs. G1. It's kinda cool when you step back and realize that a website dedicated to a toyline is making you think about philosophy. I for one hope this thread doesn't get locked.

As my dad (another great philosopher) used to say:
You can hope in one hand and crap in the other and I can tell you which one will get full first.

Sums up my view of the Bayverse pretty well.

I'm far more tired of having white knights around than I am haters. And that goes for everywhere, not just the movie forum. At least haters can be funny sometimes.

I love almost all Transformers continuities and appreciate them for what they are.....

....except for the Bay Movies. They seriously turned this promising movie franchise into a joke.

I actually love most of his movies and the first Transformers film was awesome, the other 2 after not so much. My problem is his designs that he approves makes it look like picked the ugliest things possible and mashed them together.

I may not buy them on DVD and rewatch them, but I'll certainly go to the movies to see a Transformers flick any day of the week. I don't necessarily see the point of degrading a particular part of the TF universe. If you don't like it, your opinion won't be changed, nor change someone else's mind.

I don't hate Bay, I just have a low opinion of his film quality. It's like Ed Wood with less plot and more explosions.

Having been on the receiving end of criticism about other franchises, I personally enjoy the challenge of defending something I enjoy. It's much more stimulating than just everyone agreeing with each other all the time.

I think we may have to agree to disagree on this part. As far as I'm concerned, Bayverse is really nothing more than an interesting re-imagining of the series. It's clear the art design wanted to make them really alien, rather than the much more human looking robots of earlier forms of Transformers, the emphasis on using exotic shapes and curves rather than the blockyness of previous stuff. But as far as revolutionizing goes...I don't really see it. All I saw was a darker, gritty "realistic" Transformers that overall, tried to be "adult" and "mature" but failed, really just being teenage at best, and childishly immature at worst.

When I think of the phrase "revolutionary," I envision something that changes up the status quo to the point where others adopt that concept into their methods or ideas or copy it blatantly. To me at least, the movies didn't do any of that. It took the concept of Transformers, and distilled that to a basic, barebones idea, and attached a dark, gritty story to it that one would find in the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare series...mostly unintelligent and made to be eye candy more so than anything intellectually compelling or interesting. If it was revolutionary in how uninteresting it made most of the characters, then I suppose I can cede that.

Oh, There's a bit of misunderstanding here. I myself don't hate on the movies. I think they're flawed, but any kind of "hate" I may spout is due to objective analysis of it, rather than any blatant, baseless hate.

I did not really word what I wanted to say properly...Perhaps it was just me but I got the vibe that the original poster thought that perhaps Bayverse fans are sort of innocent here, and that they should be allowed to enjoy the movies with zero discussion, positive or negative, and that it is only "Geewunners" who hate on the movie. My aim was to simply state that if he wanted to paint movie fans as "innocent," then he is clearly, utterly wrong as any search of TFW can show you. I certainly see where you're going with that, and it was never my intention to suggest that there are only two black and white groups, but unfortunately my poor choice of words worked against my intent here.

But this isn't "their" subforum. It's a subforum to discuss the movies, and that means that the bayfans and bayhaters just have to tolerate each other. If a person, like the OP, doesn't like someone dissing his beloved movies, then he just needs to man-up and ignore that poster. Same as the bayhaters just have to ignore the baylovers. We can have discussion, of course, but complaining about bayhaters is just three-generation stale.

And then you have the majority of us old folks that pretty much stay out this forum these days because we talked about this same exact shit back in 07 and 09 til that horse was dust. By the time DOTM came out, we were beyond even commenting on the subject.

If anyone should learn the necessity of improvement, it's Bay fans.

I like all three Bay TF movies. But blaming criticism of the movies on "geewunners" is a ridiculous oversimplification. There are Bayformers haters from ALL segments of TF fandom.

Oh yeah, the Bay movies made some changes all right.

They made most most of the robots' faces so UGLY.

I'd take the G1 version all the time:

    Just one example...

So do all G1 fans hate Bay? No, but if some hate Bay, that's their prerogative. And it sounds like you hate G1 fans since your second sentence seems to imply you want them gone on TFW2005. So it's okay for you to hate G1 fans for hating Bay, but it's not okay for G1 fans to hate Bay?
