I'd post a long-winded incoherent rant here, but it's after midnight, and I want to finish Terra's story in Birth By Sleep, so basically, my problem with the haters is not that they hate the Bayformers movies. It's that I want them to shut up about them for five minutes so that I can feel like I'm allowed to like them. :p

So long as you keep thinking of people who don't hold the same preferences and opinions as you as "haters", instead of thinking them as individuals, you'll miss out on a lot of opportunities to learn and expand your own perspectives.

I don't think you understand the power a director has over a film.

When they were filming Jaws they hit a huge snag with the mechanical shark just wouldn't work right and it couldn't be depended on. The script had already been written based upon a book but the director called the script writer in and they reworked the whole film to get around the undependable mechanical shark.

In the Lord of the Rings extras the director talks about how many times they had to redesign Gollum because they would get a design but it just didn't seem to fit what they were looking for.

Go into the commentary on most films and the director will talk about the things they had to rework and change for the film from the original script and concepts.

Yes Micheal Bay doesn't write movies, but as the director he is responsible for translating the written script into a movie. It's not like writers are going around with a gun to movie director's heads or the heads of actors telling them how to interpret the script or what the tone should be in a scene.

What about over sensitive, over protective, narcissistic movie fanboys?

The movies coulda been a hell of a lot better, anybody with a brain knows that but I love many of the toys. Pretty much what got me back into TF's new designs, etc... I love the fact that ROTF Prime is hard to transform.

Other people posting negative comments about the movies shouldn't have have any effect on you being allowed to like them. In fact there's nothing that says you have to be 'allowed' to like them at all. You don't have to ask permission to like the movies. Just as people don't have to ask permission to be 'allowed' to dislike the movies, either in whole or in part.

And you have no right to demand anyone shuts up just because they have a different opinion than you. The internet is a wonderful place that means if you don't like a particular person's posting you can put them on ignore. Or if you come across a post or a comment in a post you don't agree with you can just easily skip over it to the stuff that does like what you like. Or, and this is probably a revolutionary idea to some people, you could intelligently debate with those other people and maybe even both find a middle ground or respect for each others' opinions, even if you don't agree with them.

Not to mention when the writers strike was on Bay came up with a load of action scenes for RotF himself and then the writers had to work them into their story when the strike ended. So you could say Bay did sorta write parts of that movie.
Indeed. There are countless instances where a director has decided something doesn't work and has changed it, or has added something he's thought of. Directors have changed whole endings of movies. Even if they don't actually write the new ending themselves they could've called for the new ending, which in itself is part of the creative process. Directors don't just say 'Point that camera there. And... action!'. Anyone that thinks that just doesn't understand how movies are made.

In the end I think some people see a negative opinion posted and assume that person hates everything about the movies and must be a 'hator'. And while some people like that do exist, where BayFormers has nothing worth offering to them personally, I'd say almost all people that post something negative about the movies are just innocently voicing their opinion on that part of it. Many people that post something negative probably also can find something positive to say somewhere about them too. It's just many BayFans see only the bad posts and assume they're surrounded by hardcore hatorz rather than seeing some people find some aspects of these movies to be poor. To those BayFans it's like the moment they see a negative opinion of BayFormers their blinkers suddenly shoot on and they can't see anything else but evil hatorz all around them.

    Its funny really.

I just got over being annoyed that the latest Tomb Raider game is going to be a reboot, with Lara Croft no longer an aristocratic English lady, but some college student, my own age.

Myself, i looked at Lara Croft as a memsahib, an ironic throwback to an age of British Imperialism, and i loved her for it. Not to be taken too seriously. Now she's all...grittily rebooted.

I guess my point is, reboots have to happen and hopefully you can find something to enjoy in them. If not then hopefully the fans of the reboot will be gracious enough to understand that you loved deeply what came before, and that its hard to see it change.

Or possibly i just cant win, because i enjoyed the Thundercats reboot and thats failed. Apparently you need more than two people buying toys and watching the show for it to succeed. Stupid or what?
