Technically it was the both of them that destroyed the control pillar. But which individual act did the job, Ratchet’s blaster or Bumblebee’s tackle?

+ It gives a moment of glory to an Autobot that has been terribly overlooked within the films. You’d think that with all the fights and Bayhem going on, there’d be someone handling defense and rescue in an awesome manner, a job that’d fit Ratchet perfectly. Hopefully, in TF4 Ratchet can get his own action, just as DOTM did for Ironhide (but without Ratchet dying, he’s one of my favourites).

+ It was no major loss, Cybertron was said to be a barren wasteland so they were getting rid of a dead world in favour of a living one.

- It’s spawned a whole lot of really mean and vicious jokes about how Ratchet is the Dr Death of the films, how he destroyed his home world, Primus, etc. I can’t stand those sort of jokes, I don’t know how anyone else can...

- The destruction of Cybertron should never have really happened anyway, so it reflects badly on Ratchet. “Hey here I am finally at the end, I’m going to shoot this pillar connecting my dead world so that at least I can say I did one significant deed... oh slag here comes Bumblebee I better move fast!” pewpew “There, I made it before Bee did! Now in accordance with the script I must tell him how he fought bravely...”

- Bee’s already the Bayverse’s Rodimus Prime, both adored and despised by fans for being exceedingly in the forefront of the fight.


Anyway, what are your opinions? Would you give the glory to Ratchet or Bumblebee?

 

Does it matter? I mean, seriously... you say yourself that they did it together. Why debate about who did it "more" than the other one? Is this just asking for a debate for a debate's sake?

 

Some say it was done together, others are saying it was done by ONE of them. The poll is looking at the latter view.

Bumblebee is a main character. Ratchet got a sex joke that one time. If you have to pick one as intended by the filmmakers to have carried such an important plot point, it would almost certainly be Bumblebee.

prob ratchet he was trigger happy, actually was more like Ironhide than Ironhide was, more interested in running and fighting in tf1 than helping jazz, number two watched jetfire reef out his spark again running around shooting while beforehand looked at Optimus drop didn't even look at him and was like lets get out of here to Ironhide. In 3 he did nothing really but again was still very interested in shooting shit.

Well, this only shows how much people hate bumblebee.

 

This is EXACTLY what I was going to say, if only a bit more sarcastically.  

Plus, no one ever intended to destroy Cybertron when they destroyed the Control Pillar. Cybertron collapsing in on itself was just something that just...happened. WHY it happened, it's just one of those [visually spectacular] cliches. Look it up, I'm sure there's a list of all the cliches of failed teleportation, and this one is on there.

Anywho...yeah, this thread was reaching. What's next? A discussion of why Megatron has such a deep, growly voice?

 

Bumblebee but only because he didn't give Ratchet enough time to do it himself.
