I can't really see that happening pal! + other than human, the Autobots need a faction to fight against! granted that most of the Decepticons were offed in the last movie, but i'm sure that new ones will come along to take their place! or resurrected(megatron into galvatron).

 

I agree it doesn't seem like a trolling thread at all but exploring ideas about what the films would be like without the Decepticons or if the movies could even be done without Decepticons.

Would we still have the hunt for the magical McGuffin as the bad guys way to win? How does the violence change if it's humans the Autobots are fighting? Would the human weapons become less powerful if they were turned on the Autobots? Just all sorts of interesting questions you could explore off a simple idea of what about Transformers without Decepticons.

 

Well, there is potential, and you've probably tapped the surface. But really, I and so many of us would rather see more robots in the films than humans. And MBay has given humans more than they deserve in a film about Transformers. He's made enough money to render Primus in 3D, it's about time that money was used in rendering an armada of Autobots/Decepticons.

 

Given the tried-and-true method of "the start of the movie reveals that there's still Decepticons around", that's where the "have a handful of Decepticons still hiding on Earth"-idea could come into play for TF4. With Megatron destroyed and their forces low, one of the surviving 'Cons would take it upon himself to become leader and blah blah blah world-destroying McGuffin, etc., etc., government cover-up, whatever, etc..

Oh yeah, no doubt that the vast majority of the fanbase wants more robots instead of humans. But it all depends on what they want to do. They've sort of written themselves into a corner (again) with the 'Con forces, so if they decided not to have the 'Cons be a major player, that's where the human villain-thing could work. If they do want more 'Cons, again, they can make that work too with the "handful of surviving Decepticons".

Both ideas can work, and both ideas would be met with hesitance from the fanbase because they both have pros and cons. It's a lose-lose situation. If they have more Decepticons as the main threat, then the threads will be ripe with "Wah they're repeating the same formula with more Decepticons! Do something different!". If they have the main antagonist be human-based, then the forum will be filled with "We don't want human villains why couldn't they stick with Decepticons Bay hates the franchise!".

 

I didn't realize that M Bays version of Cybertron was supposed to be Primus! rather than just a part cybernetic part rock planet.

 

Not sure if you're being serious or sarcastic, so I'm going to assume you're being serious.  

QRL wasn't inferring that that Bayformers Cybertron is Primus; he was merely commenting on how the movies have made so much money (enough to hypothetically create Primus) that they shouldn't be skimping on the robot characters/screentime.

An epic battle between good and evil is only epic when both sides are of similar strength/abilities or they can counter one another very well. Humans can not - under any circumstance - counter an Autobot.

This is what pissed me off about TF: Animated - Human villains.

Transformers should be about robots beating the crap out of each other. Humans should only have a minor role - and they should have roles that make sense. I really don't want to see something like Raph in a TF movie - where he just 'understands' Bumblebee, or that he can seemingly hack Cybertronian tech without knowing it's language or how the computers operate.

 

How about NO.
