I sort of asked that in the first page or two.

As you (and I) said, there's numerous variables that have to be determined for situations like this.

Give Thanos his run mate, blowing up suns and the like might be just up his alley

In destroying a city? The Chitari would win. Transformers DOTM: was the only movie in the 'Bay' series where the Decepticons actually started attacking the city and even then their attacks were terribly ineffective - for example they barely destroyed buildings and the main skyscrapper they destroyed took 20 minutes or more of a giant driller to make it fall over.

Meanwhile the Chitauri on the other hand had giant flying creatures that easily destroyed buildings. The Decepticons did not have anything large enough to cause that amount of damage. In the time it took the 'Driller' to level a skyscrapper the Chitauri Leviathans had levelled most the city causing a death toll into the thousands.

In terms of human casualties the Chitauri caused a lot more damage. In terms of structure damage the Chitauri would probably also win as the large Decepticon warships were slow and incredibly easy to destroy (Wheelie and Brains took down the mothership by pulling out cables)

Lets not forget that the Fallen never even started to drain the energy of the sun in the movie verse - in the comics he did.

Also, noting the effect of Cybertron's gravitational forces on the battle in DOTM were so minimal it might aswell have been the Decepticons transporting a stone.

Meanwhile the Chitauri opened a space portal crossing dimensions and had an ancient evil god on their side. Their leader 'Thanos' has been shown to rival Galactus in power and easily destroy suns/planets and even kill off all the Super Heroes.

I would have to disagree in terms of human casualities; the Avengers defeated the Chitauri before they could really expand from New York and saved tons of people, such as Captain America preventing those mooks grenading the civilians. By the time the Autobots reached Chicago, the entire city is almost devoid of life, 'cause the 'Cons had at least a whole day to slaughter the population, whereas the Chitauri immediately faced resistance from the Avengers.

Of course a warship is easy to destroy when you're ripping out its wiring systems. That Leviathan resisted a super laser, but was easy for Iron Man to kill when he flew inside and exploded its innards. The Rift Worm in Gears of War was nigh-indestructible until Marcus and crew went inside and sliced apart its arteries. Master Chief can only annoy a Scarab from the outside, but inside, he can blast its core into an awesome explosion.

Do you see my point? Judge its resistance from outside attacks, not innard-sabotage.

Given that the Decepticons are taken out by ordinary humans with standard military weapons I really don't see where they would have any sort of a chance against Marvel's heavy hitters like Hulk, Iron Man, and Thor.

Hulk could slam Loki around like a rag doll and Loki was still alive, but Hulk vs Megatron like that would have just resulted in the Hulk standing in a pile of scrap metal.

With Prime now the Chuck Norris of robots it's pretty safe to say that Prime and Bumblebee could pretty much handle anything the Chitauri threw at them, but since we've never seen the other Autobots fighting a swarm of enemies it's hard to say how the other Autobots would do against large numbers of aliens with more advanced weapons than the humans.

Firstly, the 'Master chief' bit you spoke of is ripped straight from 'Starship Troopers' and 'Men in Black' i already understand the principle and i was not just on about simply outside or inside attacks.

    Outside attack of Chitauri;

    Smaller vessels-

    • Never destroyed by heroes - always had the driver being attacked
    • Destroyed in crash at high speed
    • Multiple killed by a god with lightning
    • Few killed by Iron Man - aiming for the driver
    Larger vessels -
    • Iron Man used a laser - deflected by armour of Leviathan
    • Killed once by Iron Man (Metal) flying through the Organic centre of the Leviathan
    • Iron Man used a missile - hit organic skin - killed Leviathan
    • Survived a metal plate peircing its brain - until Thor hammered it in deeper - killed Leviathan
    • Some destroyed by Thor
    • Mothership destroyed by 'Nuke' (Not confirmed destroyed)

    Outside attack of Transformers warships;
    Smaller vessels -
    • Taken out by Optimus Prime's gun - one shot
    • Taken out by missiles - one missile per ship
    • Driver taken out easily by Bumblebee - taking control of the ship
    • Flown by Wheelie and Brains - easily
    • Taken out by crashing into buildings
    • Taken out by guns

    Larger vessels -
    • Easily destroyed from interior - few wires removed causes whole ship to crash.
    • Destroyed along with smaller vehicles when the portal collapsed

In short the Avengers Aliens were destroyed by Nukes, Gods, and Missiles while the Decepticons were killed by Parachutes, Guns a few missiles and bad comedy characters...

To be fair, most things are destroyed by being sucked into collapsing portals.

chitari take out the decepticon forces. For one, a small group of humans with modern weapons took out brawl who was one of the biggest and toughest decepticons. I asume the chitari use more advanced stuff and could probably defeat them but not without some heavy loses.

Ha ha, that's true. I think it's been the staple of things like comic books since someone first came up with the idea of a collapsing portal.

I think it would be a difficult match-up. I would really like to see the Decepticon warships vs the Chitauri's ones.

Depending on who wins would change the tide of the ground war.
