Film #1 - Yes. They were most powerful and equal to Autobots here.
Sentinel Prime wasn't a Decepticon, throughout the movie he is still referred as an Autobot. Just a traitorous Autobot.

All of the cons really should have had the durability of both Brawl, and Shockwave.

Taking someone's legitimate complaint and spinning it so far that it becomes something you then can dismiss as a ridiculous want. Feeble.
I'm not dismissing anything. I just disagree. Sure, there were loads of fodder cons that were easily dispatched, but the main cons were pretty tough. I accept that movie Bumblebee and Ironhide were great warriors and that Movie Optimus was Lord Badass. Other than that, the Autobots only won because humans are resourceful bastards that don't just give up their home world easily.
I stand by what I said. Some people would only be happy if the cons were nearly invincible and most of the Autobots died trying to stop them. In my opinion, that would make for a shit movie.
This is all opinions though. Nobody is right and the movies were made and released as they were, so if you didn't like that the Decepticons weren't way stronger than the Autobots, get over it. That's all you can do, so I'm glad I generally liked the movies as they were.
In the G1 cartoon the Decepticons were even bigger pussies. Every other episode ended with Megatron screaming "Decepticons retreat!!"

Have you seen some of the films that people have pointed to as to how a movie bad guy should be done.

Predator, good guy wins at the end of the movie.

Aliens, the good girl wins.

Terminator movies, good guys win.

The Dark Knight, okay you can debate the term "win" but Batman stops the Joker and Two Face.

Starship Troopers, the Roughnecks turn the tide of war toward a human win.

Inglourious Basterds good guys win.

It's not that the bad guys have to win to make a movie good it's that it has to seem like the bad guys might have won instead of it being a forgone conclusion that the good guys will win. The bad guys have to put up a good fight until the end of the movie, not unstoppable at the start of the movie but then totally incompetent as they wait for death.

Only a small number of films where a production team was bold enough to have the bad guys win at the end. But loads of examples where people found great film villains in movies where the good guy or the good girl won.

It's the difference between Hulk Hogan vs Andre the Giant or watching Hulk Hogan vs some no name jobber without any entry music. It's the difference between Chuck Norris vs ninjas or Chunk Norris vs some 90 year old man with a walker.

No. I thought that they were weaker then the autobots and that is not right. How can you win the war on one planet and get your asses kicked by basically one autobot on another. That, dose not make seance.

well one of the movies you mentioned predator at least they made predator beat the crap out of arnold and not go down like a punk.It was more like the predator was just outsmarted instead of defeated because basically he would of killed arnold if he wasnt too busy toying with him.

Very little personality in the first film if your name wasn't something like Megatron or Starscream, but by Revenge of the Fallen and Dark of the Moon there was about zero personality except for Laserbeak, which is odd since Laserbeak had almost zero personality in G1.

The Decepticons had a horrible pattern of they can do something when they first show up, but after one cool thing they become completely incompetent and just waiting to die. The Decepticons are such a weak force that the only chance they have at winning is to gain some magical McGuffin because they lack the power to just defeat their enemies without a McGuffin.

So easy to kill that even Sam can kill Decepticons. To get any weaker they would need for Sam's grandma to kill one with a walker.

The Droid Army from the Star Wars prequels had more personality and put up a better fight than the Decepticons.

If the movie Decepticons were the only Decepticons the world had ever known then there would be no Decepticon fans in the world. The movie Decepticons make Waspinator look like Chuck Norris.
Well said. QFT.

The movie Decepticons were like hapless evil henchmen - particularly in Dark of the Moon.

In TF1, they were pretty strong, beating up the autobots, but then died very easily because of the humans primarily. In ROTF they had more reinforcements to back them up but got killed and whatnot. In DOTM??? They had like a billion decepticons around the globe and still got killed by 9 autobots? So the decepticons did get justice by being killed in the 3 TF trilogies.

A villain doesn't need to win in order to be good.

Bane was a motherfucking awesome villain and by far the best potrayal of the character and yet he was defeated by the end of Rises.

We'll tackle The Appendix first: The Tyrest Accord.

Damn straight. Though if they want good measures they should let the Decepticon have a minor victory in the second film like ESB or TDK.
