Who can replace optimus prime ?

There can be only one replacement for Movie Prime - find a TF and insert Patrick Bateman's personality into it.

Then we will have a consistent leader transition.

Why would anyone want to anyway? We've also seen what happens when one tries--it doesn't work.

Jazz, Ultra Magnus and I suppose Prowl would make good sub-commanders, but not replacements.

I think I read it here, but wasn't it said that Hasbro wouldn't use Rodimus Prime again? Hot Rod/Rodimus seems destined to forever be Rodimus.

Hasbro specifically can't use Hot Rod as a name anymore. Someone else has the trademark. Hence why in his few apperances he's also Rodimus.

But really, no. They might have been able to get away with it in 86 when the franchise was 2 years old, but now they've got 25 years of Optimus as the iconic leader. Can't replace him. It'd be like expecting a Batman film to use the Dick Grayson version of Batman.

I was really hoping in DotM that one of the wreckers were going to turn out to be Rodimus. Just think about it. Optimus stays dead in RotF, they barely defeat Fallen with the help of Jetfire and the Rail Gun. That sets up the third movie with "Who will take over?" Iron Hide tries, of course. But the Matrix seeks out Rodimus, and Boosh. Rodimus Prime. He could've been a NASCAR Hauler who carries around the other two wreckers in the back.

Yes I know, it's very G1 movie. But I counter with: The G1 movie was good.

If the new movie replaces Prime? My hope's for either Rodimus or Ultra. It would be great to see an official movie styled Ultra Mag. They could make him an overcab like G1 and, like G1 and Movie Megs, make his trailer part of his robot mode. Making for something truely awesome.

But remember also: Optimus won't die. They made that mistake in the first movie. Optimus is to big of a cash cow to die again. It'd be like them killing off Bumblebee, ain't gonna happen. Hasbro enjoys our money to much
