When Sam was trying to get to the Autobots and warn them in DOTM, Bee came out. Sam called him over and motioned to him in the same way you do to a bad dog. Even the initial tone of voice one uses when asserting their authority.

By that logic, Bumblebee was also inspired by Dr Who's yellow car Bessie.

This is just plain absurd.

I think that's way too much of a stretch.

Actually, his inability to speak was meant to be a throwback to E.T., in that his and Sam's friendship would transcend language. It's less of a "master/pet" relationship and more "a boy and his car", which is something that was promoted heavily as a focus in the first film.

actually, theres something to be said for this, though you could probably make similar assertions about any boy/pet relationship (lassie and old yeller spring to mind). it's a fairly broad assertion to make about character relationships in movies. saying it specifically references pokemon due to the colouring is probably being a bit overly-specific.

They talked about the making of Bumblebee back during the first movie in on of those making of specials.

They went with the yellow because it was kind of a G1 nod. GM wanted the black parts because it was becoming a big paint style for them of using two colors on a car and the production team thought that yellow and black tied into looking more like a bumblebee. Even the doors on his back were meant to look a bit like wings.

So no I don't think Pokemon had anything to do with.

Many guys relate the same way with their girls. Think about it, mens. Bumblebee lives for Sam, he's willing to give whatever for him as any of the Autobots for the people. It's more like the ratio of mother to child. Children, too, did not immediately begin to realize that they are beloved... and it is sad...
