I Wish Shockwave had some screentime and more Speach and Transformed or could of been the Main Villiam not a side Character!

Shockwave was by far DOTM's biggest disappointment.

 

Great design with a great toy though.

 

Agreeded. Shockwave was surpose to be the main vilain not Sentinelle Prime! I wish Shockwave had more screen time and more of a G1 voice. I loved G1 shockwave, but this movie kind of put the charater to shame.

I was fine with his screentime, but the only thing that seriously disappointed me about him was the arm cannon   Laser beam, NOT MISSLES DAMNIT.

But I agree, I would of liked more lines and screentime. Sentinel kind of took his spot.

 

He wasn't supposed to be a main villain. He was a distraction. I don't know how much better he could have been considering he wasn't the focus, nor was he ever meant to be. Honestly I'm fucking shocked we saw him at all after Sentinel went bad.

Besides, to play devil's advocate, would you really want him to talk? People complain so much about the voices and dialogue are you sure him speaking would have satisfied you?

 

He should have talked, but I don't agree with him becoming the main villain. More screen time, maybe, but not a main villain.

 

As I have said before, he should have been the main villain for TF4 instead. Although I understand he was the cover for Sentinel. But even so, he had such potential.

 

Could he have been better? Of course. That goes without saying, and can pretty much be applied to anything in Bayformers. But, despite what some may think, it could've also been worse.

I loved his design and thought the concept of him/the Driller was awesome.
Would I have liked more lines*? Sure.
Would I have liked him to be even tougher (moreso than he already was)? Yeah.
Would I have liked him to transform? Yeah.
Would I have liked him to have been the main villain? No. He was adequate for the role that the story dictated. Given the choice between another 'evil Decepticon who's evil because he's evil' as the main villain or having a traitorous Autobot trying to save a lost cause, I'd go with the latter.

*And I'm not even saying he should've been all "LOGICLOGICLOGICALLAREDEADLOGIC!". Whenever I watch DotM, I can't help but watch the Shockwave scenes and hear simple, staccato, short sentences working in his scenes. Things like "Pathetic!", "Insects!", "Impossible!", "Enough!" and so on. Short, simple, to the point.

There's a reason we have distinctions between "main", "supporting" and "minor" roles in films, television and other stories. Sentinel, Megatron and Dylan were the "main/primary" antagonists, Shockwave was a "minor" antagonist, or "supporting" at absolute best. Not every villain can be the Darth Vader of the movie. For every Darth Vader, there has to be a Grand Moff Tarkin and a Greedo. For every Saruman and Gollum there has to be a Gothmog and an Orc Warrior #3847. Same thing can be said for protagonists, - in the case of everyone whining that the likes of Que and Dino didn't get a story-changing arc or 15 minutes of screentime. For every Jack Sparrow there's a Mr. Cotton and Marti. For every Nick Fury and Maria Hill, there's a Jasper Sitwell and nameless SHIELD Agent #9.

 

He could've at least put up a fight, I mean, Megatron didn't leave a pile of shit in charge of cybertron, he left a dictator.
Maybe we'll get to see him back in TF4, as he's the only guy Optimus doesn't de-face or decapitate. He only gets de-eyed.

I'm kinda glad he didn't speak. Movie Shockwave being silent was a good thing.

 

Funny wording, but his throat was torn out too. That'll kill him.

Though considering the absurd amount of punishment he handled [Wreckers AND the army shooting him for some fifteen minutes? Still kicking. Optimus ripping off half of torso? Still kicking. Throat gets destroyed? Still kicking. eye ripped off? NOW he died. Maybe], I wouldn't be surprised if he survived.

Guy can give Rasputin a run for his money.

DOTM didn'd devote enough time to Megatron, much less Shockwave. If the volume of other crap wasn't in there, maybe they could have had some time. But Megatron's very limited role is higher on the list of problems.

Rather, the issue I have with Shockwave the way he was is that he was essentially a wheelchair villain. He rode around on the digger, which made him a lot less dynamic. The friggin' Digger is the bigger problem with DOTM. It took screentime AND CGI budget from the transformers.

The series isn't called giant-robot-worm-that-can't-transform-and-Shockwave-rides-on.

 

Rasputin got poisoned, Shot, Castrated, Shot again, Stabbed, Drowned in freezing cold water, then shot again. Shockwave has nothing on on this demonic die-hard.

 

We all know that he could've been better. Curse your Bay!!!!
