Personally I'm getting tired of so many movies being released at the same time ripping off the same audio technique. I think it's not the fact that it's being copied so much as so many film trailers are copying it within such a narrow time frame.

Just ignore him. He posts things that are barely (or not at all) relevant to the topic at hand.

Can some mod please change the thread title to "Everybody ripping off Inception?!"



Geez, I must have seen Alien about a billion times, yet that trailer is still as unsettling as hell.

Marketing. It doesnt really affect the move itself. But just the credebility of most marketing teams who are responsible for these trailers.

*still confused about what the heck Prometheus is about. is it a prequel to aliens or not? does it have nothing to do with it? then why use the "scream" from that original Aliens trailer in the Prometheus trailer?*

this whole way trailers are being done with the whole "loud noise every so often to build up tension" has certainly become the new "every trailer has that don lafontaine deep voice over" trend

it didnt start with DOTM, but it sure as heck has become very prevalent in trailers nowadays. almost annoyingly so

Slow paced music starts
Opens to a big open setting
Character gives out expositionn
More exposition
Music speeds up a bit as something happens on the screen (such as the Decepticons waking up on the moon or the ship landing in Prometheus)
Things go generally quiet
Something burst out
Music speeds up
Action scene
*BWOOOOAAAAAAAH*
Characters running
*BWOOOOAAAAAAAH*
Action scene
*BWOOOOAAAAAAAH*
Explosion
*BWOOOOAAAAAAAH*
Character having emotional moment

This is exactly how I remember DOTM, ROTF and Prometheus
