Battleship, right!?!

i knew threw other treads that this was going to be a rip off of my beloved transformers. but i just got done watching some clips on youtube. 1 clip not only had the same sound affects from movie 1 but the stupid shredders things that were in that one clip were bacicly shockwaves drilll monster's "hands" rolling around. cant wait to see the transformers 4 fan made trailers with the movie sliced in it. sorry for the rant. good night and please tip your waitress.

While it does seem to take a lot of cues from Transformers, the film itself is good.

The story line is different enough from any of the films in the live action trilogy.

i,m not talking storyline at all. i was talking about sound affects and the look of the aliens.

ILM or DD must be doing the affects becuase they are the same.

i just dont wanna see everything they do thats alien related have transformers affects. make new ones you lazy bastards

As crap as Battleship was, I'm fairly certain they didn't reuse character models. And I don't know if you know this, but.. CGI is hard work!

It was made by Hasbro and advertized as "from the same minds who made Transformers". It isn't a ripoff, it's the exact same guys banking on their earlier success. Smart move for anyone who wants to make money.

Your argument is null and void. Sound reuse has been around since like, forever, and the obvious thing going on here is that Battleship is, in a way, trying to capitalize off of the popularity of the Transformers movies. Thus, they borrow a lot of things such as the sound effects.

Films were aping the effects and motifs of Transformers even years ago, in Terminator: Salvation.

Using what has been successful in other films in yours is a time-honored hollywood technique, even if it's creatively bankrupt. And given that Battleship is being produced by many of the same people as the Transformers franchise, its no wonder they'd look to past successes.
