Everytime I see the preview it just blows my mind away to think if they decide to bring fort max or metroplex into tf4.

 

I've seen it, it came out early in the UK, it may look like it pokes fun at it self in a couple of trailers but it actually takes itself seriously. And it's loud, very loud. I think we got Avengers early to make up for it.

Actually, I don't know if we'll see him in TDKR. I've heard we'll see his character, but I think it may be a younger version played by someone else.

Arguing this isn't a rip-off would have merit if Battleship hadn't added invading aliens and cgi alien killbots solely to capitalize on why Dull Joe Audience went to see Bayformers.

I don't get what you mean by this. Repainted Transformers are called Transformers. "Battleship" is Battleship vs. Evil Aliens and their Not-Transformers.

Repaints are also done for cost reasons. "Battleship" didn't reuse anything, other than the unsophisticated target audience.

 

In battleship, the red pegs are all just repaints of the white pegs.

I've seen Battleship. I thought it was a steaming pile of camel turd.

Oddly enough though, I didn't get a Transformers vibe from it at all, despite the potential comparisons.

 

Yeah, chances are they are using the same sound library or foley studio to do the sounds, since they can probably get a cheaper price if they promise to bring X amount of movies to the studio for work, or have the same sound effects artist, or whatever other possibilities there are. Stock music and audio effects aren't cheap!

Saw the new trailer when i saw Avengers. It sucks.

No way their getting my money...not even Liam Neeson can convince me.

 

I actually didn't find it all that bad. Don't get me wrong, it's still a very bad movie, but at least it doesn't have dogs humping or robot balls. And the characters I found were kinda likeable.

OP, are you hoping that we would be outraged that another film ripped off Transformers? The truth is that a lot of us don't give a shit if it did.

 

Okay if it was actually a good movie then i would have been pissed.

 

I'm not really concern with it being a ripoff. I like movies. Can't really stand movies like scary movie and meet the spartans . Those are what i consider ripoffs. Letting them steal my money with crap movies of the sort.

 

The trailers did almost everything they could to make Battleship look like Transformers. Since Battleship didn't do as well at the theaters I'm taking a crazy guess that branding makes a nice big chunk of the box office for the big films.

As to ripping off of other films or stories that's kind of a fine line. A movie like West Side Story was basically a modern version of Romeo and Juliet, but you don't hear people complaining that it's a rip off. Creative people tend to find inspiration in the work of other creative people.

You also don't need to totally reinvent the wheel for every single detail of every single film. Two houses could use the same type of front door purchased from the same place but that doesn't mean the two houses will look exactly alike. It's okay in the creative process to use some of the same materials as other people unless you want to say well one artist painted the water blue so now no one can paint water blue.
