Like I say, nail him to the directors chair and keep the writers cloistered away from him. His solo writing is passable but not much else (see: Avatar) but stuff that's had him as one of many writers and subject to peer review or director only (see: Terminator, T2, Aliens) has been pretty much awesome. So yeah, pre-1997 Cameron would be best. I mean he's still my favourite director of all time and I think cinema would be poorer for his absence but while important, a director is only part of the successful equation of a good all round movie. So if Cameron directs, we need a writer with some serious stones..... ....I'd nominate J. Michael Straczynski myself.
Many have bashed the likes of titanic, but you got to give it Cameron how he has this ability to pull off such ground breaking shit, to add a very good story along with it. Titanic blew me away on the shear scale of the film itself, still to this day it overwhelms me. If Cameron did transformers, he would do a fantastic job, when it comes to shit like terminator he knows his shit. If Cameron did the style and plot of the first 3 transformers films, I guarantee would have one huge continuity trilogy, in the league's LOTR and star wars
I'd love to see it happen. Other than Pirahna 2, he hasn't made a movie I haven't liked. I just think that he needs someone else to make the dialogue just a little better. This will probably never happen because James Cameron has such a full schedule with his Avatar sequels, 3D rereleases, movies he is producing, and deep sea exploration.
Excuse me as I entertain myself with the thought of the Transformers being painted blue, wearing loincloths, and having giant USB cables sprouting from the back of their heads.
You could also watch Terminator 2 and Aliens and then hang your head as you imagine Transformers done with that level of heart and compelling characters. You know, for balance.
Terminator 2 and Aliens were pretty good. Avatar, in my opinion, is one of Cameron's weakest films, but it was still enjoyable in its own way. It being his most recent film, the idea of "Na'viformers" just popped into my head. Just a silly idea, nothing more, nothing less. I'm not trying to bash Cameron or Avatar. I would very much like it if Cameron made a TF movie and gave it great characters and a compelling story like he did with Terminator 2, Aliens, and so on.
Sorry about that, my tone was out of line Avatar is his weakest film, largely because it was written and edited almost entirely by himself. T1 and Aliens I think all had at least three writers each so there was lots of peer review and trimming of bullshit. T2 had at least one other guy as a writer to keep him check too, plus I think Stan Winston (R.I.P.) was a good friend who could make him dial back the insanity, but that's merely conjecture. I'd be interested to see what he could come up with though; I mean Kenneth Branagh was the last person I'd have picked to direct Thor, but hey, results speak for themselves
Well, you can bet that Sigourney Weaver (as Arcee?) would've play a prominent role, Lance Henriksen and Bill Paxton would've been in there somehow. As long as we're going for pure speculation here, I'll throw some of my ideas in here. >He’d manage to get in his hooks on environmentalism, and how the Decepticons have ravaged Cybertron to the brink of extinction in an attempt to control as much of the planet’s resources as possible. The Autobots would have to stand against the Decepticons who want to use Earth and it’s valuable resources such as oil, hydro-electric power, etc. in order to power themselves. The military would come off as a pseudo-evil corporation who want access to the Transformers weapon advancements. >Opening with a crazy CG sequence of the war on Cybertron (similar to DotM). Giant death machines roll over dead Cybertronian bodies, showing their skulls getting crushed and their hands in death positions. Ships and tanks lurch forward. Cybertronian versions of the main characters are seen. Every 30 minutes or so the movie would flash back to the war, slowly developing their story and history (a la The Terminator). >There would be one or two very intense car chase sequences. Picture the “Barricade stalks Sam/car chase with Bumblebee”-sequence, but more intense and comprehensible. Barricade pursued the human characters (whom would be riding in Prowl) down highways and into parking complexes. The sequence would involve very little transforming, but the audience would still be able to connect with the Transformers in the scene and identify who was who. The chase sequence would culminate with the human characters being arrested by the cops after Barricade “crashes”. They “impound” both Barricade and Prowl. Whom promptly transform (once all witnesses are gone) and engage in an epic battle, throwing cars at each other and in Barricade’s case, obliterating the police cruisers who roll up to investigate. The fight scene is intercut with scenes of the human characters being interrogated. Prowl takes hits from Barricade, protecting the humans. Eventually, after more police officers (and SWAT members) arrive, the combined effort of them and Prowl succeed in eliminating Barricade. >The Decepticons want Earth’s resources in order to power their war machines and conquer the universe. Scenes of them mowing down forests and destroying mountains in order to fuel giant tanks and ships. Just my crazy ramblings. Of course there's no telling what could actually come of this. But that's the fun of this. My bro.
I'd love a NEST vs MECH thing going on. Here's James Cameron's cast: Sigourney Weaver as Elita-1 Arnold Schwartzanegger as Blitzwing Lance Henriksen as Lockdown Earl Boen as Canonball Stephen Lang as Silas Just keep Sam Worthington away from this movie.... Also Had he still been alive today Paul Winfield as Agent Fowler.
Even then...awesome amirighte? and you know with James Cameron he'd can convince him on board with this.
saw title said f^#* no and after his last movie was against technology! he probily have them leave earth and not come back
That could actually work extremely well, depending on the build-up to it and the overall story in general. If it was simply a solo James Cameron Transformers movie, or even a trilogy, he could end it on a sad note (relatively rare these days) and have the Autobots exiled forever, never to return again; betrayed by the very planet they fought to protect, leaving the human protagonists to live with the possible consequences. Think of the exile sequence in DotM, only at the very end of the movie, with even more emotional pull and virtually no possibility of a "happy ending" in which they return.
Yeah, thanks, but no. Post-Titanic Cameron makes post-Phantom Menace Lucas look like a quality filmmaker. I still think Brad Bird would make an amazing TF film.
well happy ending, yes it could work and would be well recieved its just not what i think most of the fans would want unless the went back to a renewed cybertron
Said it before and I'll say it again: What "most fans want" is subjective. Some will want a happy ending, some will not want a happy ending. The one thing that "most fans" probably do want is a WELL-MADE FILM, and if a well-made Transformers film happens to end on a sad note, I think it's a sacrifice we'd be willing to make. The Autobots leaving Earth, unsure of where to go, if they can find their planet or not, if they'll drift aimlessly through space; it's that kind of ambiguous ending that will leave audience members wanting more, but also coming to their own conclusions.
you are so right they want something that makes them happy basicly and still lets ther minds explore with posibilitys
