In DOTM if Megatron was due to rendezvous with Sentenel Prime and the Ark, why did he allow the Ark to be shot down by the Decepticons?

because Megatron was the only Decepticon aware of the plan, the other decepticons had no idea at all of the deal with the 2 (until several years later)

It was a very top secret plan, only Sentinel and Megatron knew. (even Starscream was in the dark) It was expected Sentinel would be able to escape unscathed considering he's in the oh-so-powerful Ark, but alas...

Yep, as we can recall in DotM when Starscream was complimenting Megatron on his brilliant plan. SS didn't even know about it until after Sentinel blew away Ironhide and stole the pillars. I'll bet even the Dreads didn't know and they were just told to bring back Sentinel alive...

Who?, Megatron?. No, Megatron was still in Cybertron, he was unable to stop the cons from shooting the ark as he was fighting optimus as they all saw it leaving cybertron
