The Avengers to be bigger than DOTM?

Besides TF as my number 1 fandom, i'm a fan of the avengers. It suddenly hit me to know, if The Avengers really could be a sensation around the action as in DOTM.
With all the figthscenes in DOTM, and the Driller to make it look bigger, judging from the marvel film's official trailer which also got that tension, a ravage city and a huge robot beast after Ironman, might be living up to the qoute above. Until the movie release, what's in your thoughts?.

Well I think it can and will beat DOTM. The main characters, the Avengers will be the focus and the humor will be light years better. Plus the public is more familiar with Cap, Iron Man, Hulk and Thor more so than Transformers. Those characters have been around for decades.

It better be. It's coming out a year later. I'd like to think action movies would move forward with time.

Could very well be. It's basically been building up for years, and they've marketed the hell out of it.

It has some stiff competition though, in the way of the new Batman movie. We'll find out how well it does in a week or two, I guess. Seems unthinkable it wouldn't make a ton of money though.

I agree, if only it wasn't like that with Optimus and Bumblebee as the main icons.

I'm pretty sure those guys are more known to the general populace than bee and prime. Especially cap whose been here since the 40s.

Considering the characters in Avengers had their own fairly well-received movies as sort-of promos for this team movie I think it has a nice advantage.
