I never really got this argument. I often hear "less story" and "less plot" thrown around. "Plot"; The events that make up the story and how they relate to each other and how the audiences views and interprets the story? ... So... Avengers has less of these said cause-and-effect events? :sly2:  And that makes it bad? Less plot... less plot... You can have a poorly conceived plot. You can have a horribly written and executed script. You can even have a 'stupid story'. But saying that something has "less plot" is liking saying "I has more brains than so-and-so".

:lol  That doesn't surprise me. At all. In the slightest.

I had this feeling too. I felt there was great care to make everybody shine in their own way. And coming back to that after credits scene, I, as a marvel fan, felt it was a great treat. I believe that ppl who aren't fans will not get the full meaning of that scene, or any meaning at all, but I, as a fan, felt like thanking whedon personally^^ it also serves as great forshadowing to general audiences

After seeing The Avengers I can say that it was in every way possible, a better film than any of the TF films.

During the big action sequences - we could clearly see and make out each individual character battling. And I wondered why couldn't we have seen this in the TF films?

One could say that it's down to people being able to relate better to humans than robots, and while that's typically the case, the characters in The Avengers are hardly relatable. Let's see..... We have a billionaire playboy genius, a doctor with rage issues, an God from another world and a super-soldier frozen for decades. Hardly anything we can relate to. So why is it that we, three movies later, cannot get a inch of characterisation for at least the Autobots? It is NOT impossible, and would make the films infinitely better...

I actually for a moment imagined optimus leading his troops the way cap did during battle, and thought it would be perfect if it was so

    Agreed.

The only charecter that actually were fully developed likeable charecters are Jetfire and Sentinel, and half the fanbase hates Sentinel. *I love Sentinel*

Even with Jetfire, he only really appeared for two scenes. He was fortunate that in these two scenes he was able to be given some personality. Characters like Arcee, Sideswipe, Que and Ratchet had such minimal characterisation, you just don't care for the characters.

Actually I forgot about Laserbeak. He had a real personality and was competant but he died anticlimatically.

Unfortunately, same thing can be same about Ratchet, Ironhide, and even Jazz (before he was killed). Only Prime and Bumblebee (and Sentinel, surprisingly) got any good character development. In fact, I think Wheelie and those twins got more moments than characters like Sideswipe.

Oh yeah, that's not even a matter of debate. With the trilogy as a whole, it basically goes like this: Optimus, Bumblebee, Sentinel, Jetfire, Wheelie, The Twins, Brains and then Ironhide (in terms of Autobots, at least).

Not just the US and Europe because Marvel seems to translate fairly well into other cultures. There has been a good deal of Marvel anime lately and a character like Iron Man seems just as home in Tokyo as he does in the more traditional US setting.

Since the big bucks for movies these days is outside of the US Avengers could have one of those huge box office hauls by the time it's shown world wide.

Now if someone can pass that message on to Hasbro....

    And people actually cared.

Just saw Avengers. Yes, it was bigger than DOTM. But the biggest change between them, was in Avengers you could actually see what the hell was going on. And the humour was well-timed and APPROPRIATE!

I think it will be. I'm a huge TF fan, but I am more excited about Avengers than I was about DOTM

Here in NZ, The Avengers took spot of highest-grossing opening of a film ever. It outdid Harry Potter, Transformers, The Dark Knight and even Lord of the Rings which was filmed and had MASSIVE hype throughout the country for it.

Believe me, the rest of the world is lapping up The Avengers.

    Ya this is quite right

Although I don't think Spiderman or Batman will make much as billion dollar movies are quite rare

The Dark Knight took in over a billion dollars, I don't see why The Dark Knight rises wouldn't as well, though we might see all the superhero movies start to interfere with eachother's box office takes.

Because they had 2 seasons to get to know the character and get attached to her.

I know, right? What a shock!

Smh at people who think both categories are mutually exclusive where it comes to TF films.

The Avengers have a larger fan-base, not to mention more eye-candy for the girls to oogle at if they aren't fans. The characters have fans, so do the actors. Even the director has his fans.

As much as I love "Transformers," the fan base for the movies is pretty small compared to "The Avengers."
