    I hate most Marvel characters.

    I love Transformers.

Avengers is going to rape Dark of the Moon.

Yes Transformers really lacked that team feel you'd expect when you have several Autobots in the film. It's almost like the other Autobots would get to do one cool thing in the movie but then every other cool action on the part of the Autobots had to be done by either Prime or Bumblebee.

Imagine that scene from the Avengers trailer where it pans around the circle of heroes like they are surrounded on all sides but done with Autobots.

I think the Avengers will make more money on opening weekend, but later on, not as much. Besides, if it makes more money opening weekend that's to be expected, because it has more build up the TF3 did.

I live in oz where avengers have already been released. Having seen it, i think the scale and avgressiveness of bays action hadnt been toped. Firstly the climax for the marvel film is 30 min long, secondly. Even tho it takes place in the ew york skylines, the main action is linited to a few blocks of budiling and it is obvious that the city was mostly green screened or had a replacement stand in city other than the real new york. Compare that to the city wide 1 hr long thrashing chicago took. That is not to say avengers wasnt good tho, cos it was helluva enjoyable. In terms of climax city desctruction bay > whedon.

I for one hope the movie's not gonna be in 3d that killed DOTM for me. I'm just not a fan of live action movies in 3d. Animated movies i can handle.

ZOMG Who cares? This is a Transformers board. Avengers has even less plot than DOTM.

Avengers have been introduced with previous movies like Ironman, Thor, The Incredible Hulk and people are generally more familiar with those characters.

I, myself, have been a fan of Marvel movies way before I was into TF.

Just came back from the avengers and it will be criminal if this doesn't make it bigger than DOTM. It's almost pityable how much this film shows M Bay and his childish attempt at an ensemble cast movie how to do a PROPER story where none of the main charaters (you know, the ones in the TITLE) outshines the rest. It also shows how to deal with character deaths. Oh, and stick around for the end credits scene, it makes more for the fans then the whole TF trilogy put together. Who would have known, you CAN actually make a movie that pleases general audiences without forgeting the fans...

Dont overestimate the Marvel love outside the US. In Europe the Marvel love even though not small is not the same as in the US.

It had two of them^^. But that's not my point. I'm not talking about character development, I'm talking about all of the characters being important to the movie plot, and not just background or whatever. Even with minor characters I felt they were all important. Like, they are all there with a purpose other then blowing things up and having one or two lines of dialogue.
Hey, I'm not a TF movie hater, I like them a lot, but I feel they are very flawed, and even more so compared to this one. Of course, this is just my opinion so your milage may vary^^

Sadly I guess you're right, haters will be haters... But, and I know I only speak for myself, I'm also a huge marvel fan, and I was very pleased with it, especialy the after credits scene, which of course I will not discuss here. I didn't felt in any way like I did when I saw optimus saying we'll kill them all, for example.
But General Magnus is kinda right, you do have to see the other "avengers initiative" movies to fully get this one...

From what I heard, Black Widow and Hawkeye got more developments in The Avengers than Ratchet and Ironhide received not just in DOTM, but in the entire trilogy.

I think the fact is Michael Bay just never really cared about any of the TF characters except for Prime and Bumblebee, and he doesn't care about character development like he does for explosives and car chases, and these are reflected in the movies he made. Whedon, on the other hand, cares deeply about his characters in The Avengers, just like he did for Buffy, Angel, Firefly, etc. Whedon would've easily only focus on a couple of main characters and use the rest as set pieces in the action scenes, but he didn't. Marvel is incredibly lucky to have gotten him to direct The Avengers, and if they're smart they'll lock him up for the following sequels, unless they want a X3 situation in their hands.

Let´s be fair, Whedon is no saint. He offed characters in Buffy and Angel left and right. Fred for example was a completely pointless and cruel death.

Yes, the Avengers is a better movie, make no mistake. But let´s not make Whedon a saint or something.
