DOTM > all other films (of all time, ever, to infinity).

Marvel isn't a person. It's a company. Stan Lee never wrote Transformers. Jack Kirby never drew Transformers.

Marvel has been home to thousands upon thousands of stories, written by countless different writers. Some good, some bad. That "same DNA" thing doesn't really hold up. Probably the closest parallel that you could draw is that G1 season 3 story editor Steve Gerber wrote 3 issues of Iron Man once upon a time. And I guess Marv Wolfman and Gerry Conway both wrote 2 G1 episodes each.

This is true however the point still stands that TF has had tons of source material. It's not nearly on the level of the Avengers but I'd hope 20+ years of stories amounts to something that can be pulled into a decent film.

It can, some films do just fine with characters all new to the world for just that film. Flimsy excuses are flimsy to quote the overused meme :lol

Back story or no back story there is no excuse for lazy terrible writing, even if it is just a popcorn flick it can still not be insulting to ones intelligence.

My facts are just fine, but thanks. I never said Transformers didn't have plenty of source material. Kudos on the fine reading comprehension.

Disclaimer: i previously mentioned wealth of resource material as a difference, but i dont think it affects how well a property translate to movies (in fact a more grounded property will be more harder to adapt).

On the point above, i would say while TF has decent amount of lore to draw from (relatively speaking) but for adaptation purposes its actually not very useful due to the nature of the franchise reinventing itself. Our biggest fiction is rooted in 80s kids fluff while the better ones e.g. Beast Wars has less exposure. The only constant was good vs evil and in BW human cooperation was entirely missing/not applicable.

Then theres the corporate directive of creating something new aesthetic n avoid retro approach (which u may disagree but its evidently garnered new fans) so it seems wise now that they reinvent the wheel with TFTM07.

I agree. Dark of the Moon might have torn up more of a city and took down buildings but the Avengers last battle was more fun.

You get to see all of the Avengers fight and they all fight in different ways so you can go oh cool Thor used lightning, the Hulk put the worst beating I've ever seen on Loki, Hawkeye got in some good shots for a guy armed with just a bow and high tech arrows.

They even take the time to show Captain America saving people because that's what you expect a hero to do.

Instead of the lazy story telling of well we killed all the bad guys story over Iron Man has to make the potentially huge sacrifice not only to win but to save people at the same time. Heck they even leave Loki alive for a funny line once it's clear the battle is over.

I would have thought the variation in the types of TF stories would have given more ideas for a decent movie script. The fact is, it really seems as though script and dialogue were less of a priority for the TF movies than they were for the Avengers.

It's like they said 'We've got this bit, we got this, and we've got that - OK let's stick that bit there. Yup, looks OK. Now, shove that bit over there, yeah, that'll do. Right, they have to say something -
I know, he's the master and the other guy's his apprentice. What do you mean he'd never say that? Why not? It worked for Star Wars.
    .'

With Avengers, you can tell they actually stood back and looked at the story, dialogue and execution, and saw how things fit together, then tweaked or removed bits that didn't fit.

Yeah, if The Avengers were directed by Bay, it'd have tons of slow-mo shots, Iron Man (and the military) doing all the heavy lifting and all other heroes (including Hulk) would stand in the background doing nothing. And there won't be any story or character development at all.

You forgot the occasional slow-motion shot of Black Widow's hair flowing in the breeze of battle, with close-ups of her badonkadonk and chest, with her costume open to reveal the massive cleavage. :p

Nothing against Michael Bay, but Joss Whedon is a better writer and director. It's not even close. So the fact The Avengers is a much better movie is no surprise.

And Maria Hill would be walking around in miniskirt so Bay can sneak a few shots of her panties.

Avengers is certainly better than any of the T-former movies, and deservedly so. It was always clear who was fighting who at any given time (and two of the combatants are pretty much wearing nothing but black the entire film), the humor was top notch and didn't have to resort to low brow humor, and the story was excellent.

    DOTM...lacked all three.

And don't forget at least three scenes of various male Avengers falling down or running into stuff because they are distracted by the hotness of their female companions... and then the Chitauri slamming into a building for the same reason.
