Look, I know the story and characters are stupid and all that, but I wish people would just understand that YOU DON'T SEE A TRANSFORMERS MOVIE FOR STORY OR CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT! You see it to watch crap blow up and giant robots fight each other.

Same thing with EVERY Michael Bay film, except others don't have giant robots.

A lot of people have the same problem with Pearl Harbor.

A lot of people hated that movie, and I don't understand why. It's a true story about Japanese bombing Pearl Harbor. That's it. If you were expecting Shakespeare quality work here, you're not going to get that.

Another thing, everyone bashes Michael Bay HIMSELF because of his style of filmmaking. It's getting annoying. It's one thing for it to be an opinion, but when people bash him because they feel like it, that's when it gets on my nerves. It's HIS style of filmmaking. His best skill is action. Leave him alone. It's like bashing Stephen Spielberg because his style of film is drama and character(no one bashes him. I'm just giving an example).

My point is, I wish people would accept Transformers for what it is and what it's intended to be: a spectacle of explosions and robots fighting.

I don't expect Shakespeare, just something better than what my cat coughed up.

How dare people expect an intelligent Transformers story! It's doomed to always be a toy commercial crappy story fest that you can only see for action!!! If you expect otherwise you're not cool!!!

I do not predict this thread ending well. There have also been numerous threads on the matter; most recently an active "What was wrong with RotF?"-thread.

Why do they bash the Bayformers Trilogy? Because they are not the most well-made films and people have varying opinions on them. They are allowed to bash* what they want.

As Bountyan already stated, just because it's Transformers doesn't mean that "being a well-told and coherent story" and "having character development" are thrown out the window. Subject matter has no bearing on the quality of the movie. Transformers is no different.

*And by "bash", I mean both 'needless hating' and 'legitimate criticism' (of which there is plenty).

Well said. I for one enjoyed the movies. Theres a reason they have made so much money. The major population of people who seen them enjoyed it aswell. We as fans are nit pickers. And all I can say is atleast this franchise wont go as south as the TMNT film will lol.

    Ebay:
The most common criticisms of the Bayformers trilogy:

    - Not enough time spent on the robots/too much time spent on the humans

    - Low-brow humour

    - Very little character development from anyone who isn't Sam

    - Revenge of the Fallen

I love the movies. It's different than what I wanted but in the end it was close to G1 than any other series. Robots, set in the present, Peter Cullen as Prime, and BOTS KICKING ASS! I got what I wanted out of it.

I don't agree with you, but I will go along with this premise.

They still fail. 75% of the movie is humans talking, and/or bad jokes. When action finally does occur, the robots are big wads of moving parts and indistinguishable from one another most of the time. This unsatisfying action is shot by a hyperactive squirrel.

    They are bad movies.

This, for the most part. I personally think TFTM 07 and DOTM are decent enough (ROTF is only good when there's robot asskicking involved, all other scenes suck IMO save the two times Megatron beats Starscream up for insubordination), but the humans tend to be a little to much. Frankly, if they're not associated with some form of the armed services or Simmons, I find them redundant and annoying. (Except Rosie, who I don't count as annoying because she's a better actor than Megan Fox and didn't make the movie "Sam's quest for sex")

Also, to the OP: Thank you for dropping the "I am Megatron" RP crap.

I know this may come as a shock, but I don't actually have a crystal ball. But then where do I get all of these predictions from, you may ask? It's simple. I use my mind powers and determine that most movie threads during this particular time of even-numbered years get closed because they eventually degrade into petty arguments about people's opinions. ;)  It's a skill that I've had to hone for years. Basically since 2006.

Also, the Bay movies brought in a lot of new movie-centric fans who pollute fandom with their shitty opinions and bad taste. TF Fandom was a lot more fun before 2007. I can forgive Bay for making a few bad movies, but I will never forgive the influx of tards.

Were the Transformers movies the best films ever made? Far from. Are they the worst films ever made? Holy hell, no. Are they entertaining? Depends on your taste in movies.

People have opinions, but they tend to be exaggerated. I've seen people bash Michael Bay because DOTM defies physics (i.e. Cybertron entering our atmosphere doesn't rip Earth to shreds). That really can't be a valid argument in a sci-fi movie, because there are films [that fuckin' rock] like BACK TO THE FUTURE, where the entire premise is based on giving the middle finger to physics.

Besides, advanced alien technology that does things far more advanced than our own technology? Dafuq was Michael Bay thinking?

You forgot angry, defensive and hostile.

But you can see why they are the way they are- just look at D-Bags like Don Murphy and Nelson.

Oh, and for the record- I AM a fan of the films... just not a fanboy. If someone likes or dislikes them for their own reasons, I don't take it personal.
