I was a huge fan while I was growing up. I had a limited number of toys during G1 and G2. They were either donated or trashed as I was turning 12 or 13. However, I'd say that the first live action movie is what got me into buying the toys again.

I was, but I hadn't taken interest in the franchise in a long time. The first movie and it's toy line caught my attention again.

The Unicron triogy had me believe that I might have just been too old for Transformers, because of just how kiddy a lot of the toys from those lines felt to me.
Ironically I ended up going on to be a fan of TF-Animated...Go figure.

I was a G1er but lost tough when my teen years happened. Became a true fan and collector with Beastt Wars. The movies had a negative effect on me but hey they gave the franchise more money to play with and I still have/had Animated, Prime, Generations, Encore, MP's and 3rd party stuff to keep the flame burning bright.

Yep, I was a fan 20 years before. And that's possibly the reason why I'm not that of a fan of the live-action movies...

I've always been a fan. I remember watch some G2 re-runs, the original RID, and some of Armada (I remember the multiple Beastformer series, but I didn't enjoy them). Then, with Energon and Unicron, I lost interest, but the Movies and Animated made me a fan again.

Been a fan since G1...Wasn't the biggest fan of Beast Wars, Cybertron, Armanda or Animated but love TF Prime. Loved the movies too and got me collecting again.

I've always been a pretty casual fan. I was born in '82 so I was pretty young when G1 started. My older brother was into Transformers and had quite a few toys. I had a few as well growing up but have no idea if some of them were G1 or G2 or whatever. I remember renting episodes of the G1 cartoon from my local video store. I would watch episodes of Beast Wars after school when I could get home in time to catch them. I saw a few episodes of Beast Machines but wasn't really into it enough to follow it. I feel like I don't have much time to stay up with current shows so I've never watched TF Animated or Prime or any other recent incarnation. I was excited when the live action movie was announced but didn't really follow the production outside of seeing the previews. Saw TF1 with my older brother and we both loved it and wanted to go back and watch it again as soon as it was over. Still a fan, and probably always will be to some degree.

Nope. Quite the opposite actually. Before the movies, I thought Transformers was the dumbest thing on the face of the Earth. It was the CGI that got to me, it was just so perfect. It looked so real, and I just thought it was beautiful. My daddy bought the first movie for me at a yard sale, and when the bots came on I had to pause every few seconds to really have a good look and just take it all in. After I got over the visual effects, I became more interested in the story. The culture, the war, the characters, etc.

Been an since 2003 when I saw Armada. 2004 introduced me to the gloriousness of Beast Wars, 2005 had cybertron come out and fully embraced it as a collector, and by 2006 I was a part of the online fandom.

I was familiar with G1, seeing my brother was into G1 when it first came out. Played with my brother's figures, watched a few G1 episodes and the 1986 movie on VHS... but I wasn't truly a fan. I remembered the commercials for the Beast Wars figures, but I didn't associate them with TFs. Read/heard of a few other TF series that came out, but I never had the chance to watch them on TV.

Then around 2006 I found out about a live action TF movie in the works, became very excited about it... and then I saw it in theaters, and I loved it and became the TF fan I am today.

So... was I a fan before the movies? Not really. It was the Movies that officially got me hooked.

As a kid, I liked Armada and Energon enough to buy a few of the toys, but after that I moved on to other stuff. The first movie was what really got me back into Transformers.

Funny off-topic story: I had to get a haircut the night of the Armada series finale, and my mom refused to change the appointment, so I demanded that my dad drag out the VCR and record it for me so I could watch it when I got home, which I did.

    True story.
