To be fair, the realism of the 86 movie was blown out of proportion. Suddenly if you're an Autobot and you get shot, you're dead or dying. If you are a Con, at most you get wounded; by executive decision : actually DIE.

    LOL !!!

Primal's a tough fighter WHEN PUSHED to the limits and on the verge of breaking point. Most of the time, he's really easy going.

Having Optimus saying something like "Good God !" when he's up against Drillers, Devastator, etc would be wicked and hilarious !!!!

I Disagree Optimus Was getting beat up pretty bad the whole time!
I Have the extended Imax Edition though, so I don't know what they
took out in the Regular version?

To me Optimus Is the Best of the Best, and The Leader so he He should be Stronger then any Other Autobot

True, in the Imax version he was getting torn apart by Starscream and Grindor mostly, while Megatron tried to look for an opening. As someone else said above, Prime only turns into a one-man army when he is pissed off, or is pushed to a breaking-point physically and mentally. As seen in rotf when Megatron mentioned the future of their race relies on the death of Sam... Optimus knew Megatron would never just stop at Sam, and knew he had to stop him. That's when Optimus turned into a one-man wrecking crew and really started kicking some ass.

I got mixed feelings. Watching the movies over again, it seems like ROTF & DOTM Prime were almost completely different from TF07 Prime :/

just the look on his face was one of ,I wish it didn't come to all this.

After how long Optimus and his guys have been fighting the cons, his planet being ruined, and so many close friends dying over so many years, its about time Optimus got more aggressive. In the movies it seems like Prime finally decided that the bullshit ends here.
Yeah, I like that a lot. There had to be some point where Prime realizes the only thing that will stop the Decepticons is really handing them their asses. Taking the face from their leader's leader was a good start to saying enough is enough.

I think a lot of people have a hard time wrapping their imagination around the idea of a war that has continued without pause FOR THOUSANDS, IF NOT MILLIONS, OF YEARS.

"Generations lost..." Optimus says. Generations. Effectively the entire population of their planet, multiple times over. And that is without counting the cost in lives on innocent planets around the galaxy caught in their crossfire. Again, across THOUSANDS OF YEARS. The war needs to end. Never mind the Autobots and Decepticons. The toll in innocent, non-combatant, NON-CYBERTRONIAN lives needs to be stemmed. Optimus is the one stepping up to protect all the innocent lives here on Earth and every planet the Transformers have come across by doing every single thing he can as quickly as he can to bring the war to an end.

During the movie trilogy, the Decepticons come within a hair's breadth of annihilating or enslaving (and then annihilating) all life on Earth multiple times. Now is not the time for Optimus to half-ass it and let the war drag on for another 1000 years. Because at that point, the Earth would definitely be another casualty. Just another dead rock consumed by the war.

I think a big part of the problem with the argument taking place in this thread is that some people who are critical of Movie Optimus' aggressive personality are seeing it as something Optimus is enjoying rather than as a sacrifice he is making.

Exactly!!! All these years of fighting, all the Lives lost, Optimus Doesn't Enjoy killing!
He Does what has to be done to save others and to try to end a seemingly endless war from continuing,

Enough was Enough it was time to put an end to it once and For All.

I think people are considering that length of time, and concluding that it would be more likely to make any warrior weary of combat, rather than vigorously motivated.

Considering the high tolls taken on Cybertron, I'd also think someone would be looking for a way to preserve what little of the panet and its inhabitants remain.

Another big part of the problem is that some people do see it as sacrifice rather than enjoyment.
Prime clearly gets creative with the violence. Obviously, a variety of cinematic kills is good fun for animators and great for the action sequences, it just limits the ability for non-sociopath audiences to relate to the character :D

Their planet's gone. Complete write-off. At the point of the movies, Prime is trying to prevent the loss of OTHER planets. Our planet.

And if someone is weary of war... and can't abdicate their personal responsibility by walking away from it and leaving all the innocents to their deaths (like the whole of planet Earth)... the only answer is to END the war. Any way they can.
