except that they roll in single file withe the rest of the bots and parked right next to/in the middle of them when sam went to nest after being attacked at work. when he was pissed that the soldiers wreck his car. right before he "says" hi to ratchet and ironhide.

The same way you explain G1 Optimus having the Matrix in the 1986 movie despite there being zero mention of it in the previous two seasons of the cartoon.

 

Why does everybody say Revenge of the Fallen was horrible? I actually liked it! Granted, it wasn't the best. In fact, it's my least favorite of the movies. Every time I watch it though, I still enjoy it!

In my personal canon/fanon, I completely ignore DOTM and selectively choose with ROTF -the character additions like Sideswipe and Jolt and the formation of NEST make some of it worthy to me.

The movie universe is much more fun to play around in with much more potential for the 'Bots and the 'Cons that way.

I can watch ROTF all the way through though. Not as much as the first because I think it was poorly executed and not well thought out regarding the TFs, but I can watch it for what it is and enjoy it that way occasionally.

 

I don't think it's all that hard to ignore Revenge of the Fallen.

After the first movie fans were speculating pretty hard that Megatron would be back because he was killed by the All Spark. I can't remember off the top of my head who suggested it but there was an idea that maybe Megatron was just overloaded but the Spark energy would reboot him somehow.

Characters just get thrown into the movies like Dino and Que so there isn't really any back story in Revenge of the Fallen that you need for characters like Soundwave.

Ignore Revenge of the Fallen and you can even get rid of some really bad ideas that somehow the government could totally cover up the robots fighting in major American city or that nations like China would let the American lead NEST team into their nation instead of attempting to capture the Decepticons themselves.

Given that time elapses between the films it's easy to just say that Sam went to college, grew apart from his old girlfriend, and then couldn't find a job. Heck you could even say the metal from the president was for Sam's actions in the first movie if you don't have the government cover up in the second movie.

Like someone else pointed out in this thread Megatron's big plans even fits better that way since Megatron's original plan with Sentinel Prime got scrapped until the Decepticons found out that the Ark was on the moon. Perhaps the first film plan then was to get the All Spark so Megatron would revive Sentinel Prime with the All Spark.

Actually, DotM does quite a few things to link it to the previous movies, including RotF. They don't ignore it and say "Forget about that second movie, it didn't happen", but they also reference it just enough to say "Yes, that stinker was part of the trilogy. Acknowledge it, let's move on".

 

This is the only thing that makes no sense but then again he is seen in DOTM rebuilding/fixing himself....so you could assume he came back recently.

Overall I think it';s better if you ignored ROTF, even though we'd all miss out on The glory of Jetfire.

I never said it wasn't. But to be fair, everyone has their own personal canon. Some people prefer the novel adaptations over the movies. Some people go by the G1 comics while others go by the G1 cartoon. It's all just personal preference.

That's a little harsh. I'm not bitching about anything. I'm presenting an idea and asking for people's opinions. If you disagree, that's perfectly fine. But don't bash me for making the thread.

The ship that the Wreckers have been keeping care of, and the mention that Sideswipe and company came in it

All are connected to ROTF

 

Optimus never had a trailer and the Trailer power up mode in ROTF
