I think this deserves a thread.

    Anyone have any idea why?

It's there. Just not exploding in your face. If he was the same purple he was in G1, I think it'd look kinda silly seen in live action.

Because I barely see any purple on him unlike the toy.... It makes no sense why the toy is all purple and the CGI model is barely purple, and mostly the silver all the cons have, if the toy was like the CGI model, I would not bring this up... But I like my CGI models to look like the toys or the other way around... ;)

But hopefully when I see it on the big screen, I will notice it better.

I hope everyone understands, I still like the model regretless.

He's purple in the poster and in that flying in shot. I think it's more of a purple sheen to his armor that doesn't always show up.

ROTF Megatron Voyager was green. The CGI was not.

    This also deserves a thread.

I could see the purple on the CGI model, it wasn't NEARLY as pronounced as on the toy, but I find that a good thing.

Plus, wasn't the original Shackwave AND Animated Shockwave's first coloration gray as well? It's win-win for us fans in terms of colors, and muted purpleish gray makes a lot more sense for an alien robot in a live-action movie that's been in space a lot rather than being a rich purple.

Guys, don't forget that the CGI is hardly done. Shockwave may very well be purple, but you gotta remember that the animators have to texture the model.

    He IS purple.

If he was as purple as the toy, it would look rediculous. He's a dark shade of purple on the promo poster and in the trailer. It's hard to see because the light shining on his armor makes it look greyish, but it's there.

He is actually a royal purple. It's hard to see, but if you look closely it's there.

he's a dull purple, not the in your face purple of his toy, the Cgi guys probably wanted to make it seem like it was a "natural Skin tone" for a cybertronian, since he is still in Cybertronian form and doesnt have earthmode kibble which usually does have the super bright colors

I think the toy might be a more pronounced purple for a couple of reasons. The color will help him stand out on the shelf because there aren't that many purple Transformers. Parents and grandparents aren't always the best at finding things so kids could say I want the purple one for my birthday or Christmas. Plus with enough of that G1 look mixed in Hasbro might be thinking that some collectors will get the figure for their Classics, War for Cybertron or Transformers Prime collection.

Duller colors have been pretty common in the film franchise with the Decepticons so perhaps the designer wanted to mute the color a bit to fit the Decepticon color pallet better.

    Does it really matter? REALLY?
The difference between CGI and the toys is understandable and expected.
So what if CGI Shockwave isn't the brighter purple that the toy is? Should he also have hollow legs and a lack of neck movement, too? I mean, the toy does so shouldn't the CGI version?

Old example- TF1's Brawl did not have clear cannons in the film did he? Yet the toy did.
