Transformers 4 Will Happen with or Without Michael Bay - MovieWeb.com

Transformers 4 will happen even without Michael Bay Even though director Michael Bay has declared that Transformers: Dark of the Moon will be his last turn at the helm of this mega-franchise, Hasbro CEO Brian Goldner has come forward to say that it won't be the last Transformers.

But Brian Goldner still holds out hope that Michael Bay will eventually change his mind and return to do Transfomers 4. Here is what Goldner had to say.

"I would say to you right now that I've so enjoyed working with Michael Bay. (He) has got this incredible visual sense for showing you things you've never seen before. Perhaps he'll change his mind, perhaps he won't, but I'd rather put out this movie first then cross that bridge at some point.

Brian Goldner also talked about his high hopes for Transformers: Dark of the Moon.

"I really believe it is (the best film in the series), and the reason is because we've learned so many things as we've made [these films]. The fact is, there's a lot of story here...But we also understand the great spectacle of what 'Transformers' can be. It's a great marriage, but with greater meaning. The first trailer shows that the space race is a backdrop to something that had gone on in our past that nobody was aware of. In typical 'Transformers' fashion, it's all about more than meets the eye. That's the core of what 'Transformers' is: you can never judge a book by its cover. We're going to reveal to you, in much more of a thriller style than ever before, that idea of what's going on behind this whole 'Transformers' pre-history."

Brian Goldner says that Transformers: Dark of the Moon has a higher stakes storyline this time out, and that they won't make the same mistakes as Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.

"Dark of the Moon' has many meanings. It's clearly what we know from the teaser trailer, but it's also this idea that there's darkness, a real cataclysm that could occur here based on knowing the truth of what's happening. If everyone had understood why each Transformer was in the movie, people wouldn't have cared how many there were. But once they're just these robots without any real meaning of why they're there, it just became robot melee, and that's not as enjoyable as knowing something about each robot and their personality so that when they do fight, there are stakes to it. That's really what was missing. It wasn't that there were so many robots; there were so many robots that you didn't know."

I'd rather see a reboot with a whole new cast than TF 4 with a new director.

keep it a trilogy, not every series can pull of a quadrilogy of almost one shotish movies. Unless they can pull a saga out of their asses they shouldnt bother with it, i mean look at the Star trek movies, they turned to shit after awhile and only thanks to a reboot have they come back into the now, if they go past three i would suggest the Saga approach with the last film featuring Unicron and possibly the Death of (all) the Transformers.

But i take what Goldner say as meaning that DOTM will not have a Conclusive Ending and either have a non-climatic ending like ROTF where we knew there would be a new movie, Or a Ambiguous ending like the first one where they set up the stage for possible ways to do the next film, like the first one showed one piece of allspark shard remaining and showing the location of the dead cons and Starscreams retreat,

    Lessee...
A fourth movie, from which the fandom will get more toys, the company will get more money...
And might not have Micheal Bay as director?
Oh thats just headed straight for disaster.

The only 4th movie will be a reboot, and I am sure Michael Bay will not be directing it.

I would vote for a reboot too. There are only so many movie toys I will buy.

From a story standpoint, I'm not sure I'd like this.

However, TF4 as opposed to TFReboot might net us some better toys of movieverse characters (or toys period, like the rest of the constructicons). Ah, who am I kidding?

It's too bad they didn't take this seriously from the beginning. I enjoyed both movies but the flaws were quite obvious and that's a bit embarrassing. I hope they find a new director that comes in appreciating the TF movie universe and all it has to offer transformer fans old and new. I also think it would be nice for Bay to continue to lend his action expertise to the franchise as he does a lot of things well. He just needs someone that has more experience with characters and story telling. I also don't think he expected to become so attached to the TF universe in the beginning and looked at it as just another project.
Looking back i sincerely hope he's realized the potential this trilogy could have had and at least gives us a final effort with heart ... if he can do that, i think a lot of fans may forgive him and maybe enjoy yet another Bayformers movie in the future.

It will happen with Michael Bay directing it. You'll see. Prequel or whatever they want to do.

    It's all about money.

Transformers 4 will be an intergalactic battle of epic proportions. Live action Cybertron! No humans in the cast! :)

I would really hope DOTM is the end for Bay. I don't want to have to sit out yet another TF movie. The Bay universe is not fun for me anymore. I want to see a reboot.

I hope you actualy knew how redundant that concept is when you posted it.

Yes it's a technical oxymoron. It would be fully 3D, but rendered in a realistic and not a stylistic manner. Which I also realize is a stretch of language when talking about purely fantastic creations.

As much as I love the movies, I'd prefer a reboot over an entirely unnecessary TF4.

I'd like to see a second trilogy. Perhaps set long in the future, with totally different characters.

Not really keen on a reboot which would probably tell the same things, only in a different way.
