I hope everyone has enjoyed the videos from Chicago over the last few weeks because they won't be around for long: Paramount has (again) issued DMCA "Takedown" notices for dozens of videos on YouTube. I've lost two of my videos already and a bunch of videos I had in my Favorites are gone as well.

Some of the videos they had removed are just shots of the vehicles driving around on public streets. I can't see how posting a video of that is a copyright violation, but even if it was, they got a ton of bad publicity when they tried the same thing a few months ago, I am surprised they are trying it again.

Someone should take Paramount down. Let's send some DMCA cease and desists right back at them.

Glad I watched them when I did. From now on, if there's any set videos or pictures, we're gonna have to view them, and then save them fast if we want to see them again.

Man well thats good to know I guess because I was going to make a slide show movie of some of my pics, I guess that would have been a waste of time making it and putting it on youtube. Yah know this is kinda funny because I was looking at all the videos up there and man there were alot, I was thinking could this be a little too much info for a film in the making. I hope this doesnt ruin it for all the fans journeying down to Chicago in the next few weeks about taking pics, they might be SUPER NAZIS now and take your camera if you are taking pictures....well if worse comes to worse I still have all my pics and videos I have taken over the past 3 weeks and Paramount cant take that away from me:) ......its a wonder they dont start taking photos off of here......

Let's not give them any ideas, Jimmy

If there is any other way to share your videos and pics I would love to see them. I also appreciate you going through the trouble of preparing them to share with everyone, be dammed Paramount

Technically, they shouldn't be allowed to do that. Those are home videos, not video of the finished movie.

Okay, I could understand Paramount's motivations if, say, they were shooting a scene on a closed sound stage out in Hollywood, and some spy jumped half a dozen fences, sneaked past security guards, and then videotaped the scene being shot, and then uploaded it to the web. But they're shooting smack dab in the middle of a major metropolitan city, and making practically no attempt to block off the area from prying eyes.

This is not unlike inviting a friend over to your house for a birthday party, taking a picture of that friend eating a slice of cake, uploading that photo to facebook, and then having the friend complain that you took their picture. Uhh, it's my house, that's my cake you're eating, and you didn't tell me to put my camera away when I was taking your picture. So, tough shit.

The really bothersome thing is how Youtube is so eager to cave to Paramount's demands, even though the videos break no law, and in fact removing the videos can be considered, by some, a breach of the first Amendment. This bit of news, coupled with Youtube's preventative Comic Con leak measures, shows that Youtube has really sold out.

Oh, and also, if Paramount is making all the fan-videos disappear, what about Chicago news coverage and officially released videos which show the exact same content?

Drat...and I had just composed a video in iMovie showing tonight's action.

They set off pyrotechnics on top of 8-9 different buildings near Michigan Ave, had some lights flashing in one building, and a herd of cop cars drove down Wacker and pulled up right in front of Hotel 71...and I was there!

well recently on thechive there were pictures from some guys who literally just walked right onto the set. They merely told security "excuse me" and they got on, got extremely close up shots and even managed to play around with some of the set pieces. Perhaps it is security they are worried about. What if those two walked too close to pyro and got hurt?

Yeah man I saw those pics, I didnt believe that for a second, Im pretty sure he was there but still behind the barracades because people got that close without hoping any barracades(while they were filming), I was there and I was on set, they let people go by between takes and during filming and I dont think anyone could hop those because then you would be right in the street which mind you was guarded by groups of cops and tight security, everyone had to keep moving, the set pieces I believe because I saw where those were and they were two blocks from the initial set with no one guarding them, anyone could have went up to them....so I think security is fine....

^^ Do you fellahs know... if you have a YouTube account in good standing (no vids where you're using another's audio content, etc) you can upload a video and share it with a private link... so only those with the actual link can view the video.

Great for Paramount's idiocy control. Completely agree with santoanderson who mentions recording something smack dab in the middle of a metropolis shouldn't expect some coverage.

Maybe they are just trying to hype the film? ;)

it would not shock me if this had something more to do with it as channels will pay for "exclusive" content
