I think instead of Shakespeare it would be a more accurate to compare it to something like author Stephenie Meyer's Twilight series. Both really mess with established mythology to appeal to a teen demographic. Twilight seems like projects aimed at a teen girl market and the heck with anyone looking for the manly vampires of old, while Transformers seems to pander to the male teen demographic with explosions and Fox looking sexy over character to the robots.

 

I dont want Shakespeare I want something that entertains me for a couple of hours and sad to say ROTF failed in that regard completely.
