If Bay didn't do them, which director would you have wanted to take on the TF movies?

I don't think Transformers should be made in such way where it tries to be more than it really is. Ebert gave the first Transformers a positive review for the reason that it acknowledged its roots as a toy and instead of trying to be something it wasn't, used it as an asset.
yeah, I don't want all the fun sucked out of transformers for the sake of realism. I just want someone who can bring a different flavour to things and tell a compelling story.

LOL funniest quote ever! btw,it's not just bay that sux ass even though he is the worst of them but it's also whoever else writes the scripts. just beyond retarded dialogues with the stupid-ass jokes as usual. the movies were just corny which is sad. perfect example would be in rotf and that whole scene with the mom all high at the school running around. i'm sure a lot of u thought that was hillarious but it was just flat out stupid imo.
my TFW2005 feedback

Some of the stuff which I can make out you say is true.
Next time, you should check your grammar.

Fine, if not Cameron , Ridley Scott who did the first Alien movie as well as Blade Runner.

Ridley Scott with out Question and James Cameron a close second agreed.

Bay just doesnt tell a good story or cant convey a decent one.

No, no he really doesn't or at least he's not very good at it. "Just directing" is a bit of a silly statement too. Bay is the creative force behind every film he makes. He may not write them, but he has the final say on every aspect, including story construction. You make it sound like he's just one of the tech guys performing one role.

Honestly, as much as I love what Nolan has done with Batman, it really isn't that ground breaking. Any director with a lick of talent could have made a Batman film that is truer to comic, and hardly think Batman was saved by Nolan. B&R may sucked, but the franchise was far from dead when Nolan came along.

Michael Bay may not have raped my childhood, but I think he may have molested it.

Neill Blomkamp would be a great choice. Jon Favreau would have fit nicely. I think his Iron Man film had the kind of tone and feel (kind of '80s-ish) for Transformers that I was hoping to see. James Cameron would obviously have been another strong pick.
