If Bay didn't do them, which director would you have wanted to take on the TF movies? |

And you really want a guy who makes mechanized humans loose to stone age natives? | Now, that's not fair. That movie hasn't even been released yet. None of us can truly judge it yet.
After I saw TF1, I made up in my mind that Michael Bay was the director for the movies. He was, by far, the best decision, when it came to choosing a person to helm the films.
However, after seeing ROTF (even though I really enjoyed it), my faith in Mikey was shaken a little bit. He still did a great job, but some parts of the movie just went over board. I can honestly say that the moment I saw Devestator's balls, I felt extremely embarrassed for some reason (which has never happend to me before). YOU PICKED THE WRONG PLANET! Quote:

so does Kevin Smith.
Who do you want making TF movies?
Your bargaining posture is highly dubious, Jerk!

I agree with what has been said about Cameron... I just think he would make it too preachy, sophisticated etc etc...
Timur Bekmambetov would have been the ideal replacement if Bay had have declined doing movie 3. He started off doing ads (ala Bay) so he has that flashy style. He's the guy that directed Wanted, which had some of my favorite action sequences in awhile. He may have also casted James McAvoy (the leading man of Wanted) as Sam, which is who I originally thought would have been perfect for the role.
Bekmambetov does some great over the top action, which is what TF needs. Plus I don't think he would have done an exclusive deal with a company on car brands, which could have lead to more variety in the cars.
Or Tom Hanks, as I've said before. Dude's a fan of TFs anyway, and he would stay faithful. but he could make it a war based movie (as evidenced by Band of brothers). Quote:

He transferred over Star Trek flawlessly, with amazing effects and an excellent story. Cloverfield was an ok movie, but he got the overall point across and made it an effective movie. MI III was a good movie, with solid action and a good plot.
I can see some of the directors listed making an excellent Transformer movie, don't get me wrong. I think that Cameron would do a phenomonal job. I don't think Nolan would create a good Transformers movie just because I don't believe he could get the designs good enough for everyone to be happy.
Chuck Norris drives Optimus Prime to work.
Looking for anything RiD or Car Robots. Specifically, Fire Convoy, Megatron, and the Autobot Brothers.

| Agreed.
I'm going to be honest, Nolan, Cameron, Jackson, etc. are all tremendous, fantastic filmmakers and I greatly enjoy their films. However, this is Transformers we are talking about. It's based off a toyline and cartoon. Could it be serious? Sure. But being based off a toy it should be a two hour romp of fun. TFTM pulled this off with surprising finesse. I walked out with a genuine smile because not only was there some amazing action, I found most of the characters likeable and the humor well done for the most part. I think a problem with ROTF, though, is how after the success of TF1, which was very carefully planned, the series felt as if it were shifting from "Transformers movies" to "Michael Bay movies". That is, I think Bay took a little too much liberty. However, I still believe his style perfectly suits the Transformers brand and can't wait to see what he'll bring for TF3. Playing with a TF should be fun. Watching a cartoon should be enjoyable. In that same vein, Bay made his movie a good time. ROTF, less so, I think they tried to hard with a serious plot, which wasn't fully developed. The lack of set tone in ROTF unlike TF1 made it less "fun", but still worth my while. Check out my fanfic, Transformers III: ENDGAME! I'm so hungry I could eat an Epps! |

I don't know what you guys have against Cameron, but he did not one, not two, but four great films(Aliens, first two Terminator films, and True Lies) as well as highest grossing movie of all time (Titanic). He has 73% on RT.
Bay's only good movie in my opinon is "The Rock" but that's due to it's great star power. Bay only has 7%.
What does that tell you who's the better director?
What about the Wachowskis or Guiermo Del Toro (sp?) or Jerry Bruckheimer ? LOST Season 6: Destiny is Found 2/2/2010. |
