Did you guys even see the film? Jetfire plainly stated that he scanned the Blackbird form shortly after a climatic battle in space with Megatron just before the quantum explosion that scrambled Megatron's gyroscope and sent him plummeting into the ice awaiting discovery by Archibald Witwicky.

 

Yeah, how IS everyone missing that?? I remember it... plain as day!

 

Apparently they had the technology to make a mechanical stealth flying vehicle but still made ships out of wood.

This I agree with 100%.

 

The first Blackbirds were made of wood too, I saw it on the discovery channel.

 

And Barricade's police shield and "to punish & enslave" motto!!

 

Yeah, apparently the skunks in charge of design and construction hired out the work to beavers, and you know what happens when you trust beavers to build your airplane...

 

That's such an obvious plot hole, its amazing Michael Bay didn't realise this. You can't say in one breath that some robots have been asleep for over 1000 years .. and in the next breath show a robot wake up as a 40 y/o vehicle.

It was clear to a lot of us that Jetfire had only been on the planet for 6 weeks after we saw him fighting with Dirge on cybertron in the first film.

 

That was awesome. And the part where he whipped out a guitar and beat him with the power of rock; by inventing rock? Freakin' sweet.

 

Just a what if here. But what if the Sr-71 is Cybertronian and the U.S. military found him and copied the design.

 

  I like that a lot. That's now the official reason behind it and if anyone disagrees we get to beat them with a cactus.

 

Sure seems a whole lot more plausible than Jetfire 'periodically' waking up, and rescanning every 100 yrs.

In a story where world technology is supposedly 'based' on transformers, it would make more sense if, said 'dormant ancient robots' were copied by humans, as opposed to they somehow rescanning in their sleep.

Last time I checked, I don't no anybody who managed to change from pijamas to a tuxedo while sleep-walking.

 

Or he didn't go dormant until he took the Blackbird alt mode.

 

Re: Sam's shard and Optimus.

To quote Wheelie in the "Wake up Jetfire" scene: "Now, point the shard and watch the magic!" (or something like that...)

Wheelie knew that the shard had regenerative powers, Sam and co. didn't until AFTER it was used to restore Jetfire.

Sam didn't even get the idea to revive Optimus until Jetfire told them about the Matrix.

No plot hole, just a lack of communication.

 

Actually people can do some pretty involved things when they're sleepwalking, like cooking a meal or climbing a telephone pole....

So that settles it, Jetfire scanned the Blackbird by accident, when he was asleep.
