Now lost in the 24 pages of this thread, I think what you're really saying is aren't there also other story elements of other TF continuities that are just as good as G1? If that's what you mean, then I can totally see your point. G1 was certainly not the end all, be all, of TF fiction. In a lot of ways, it wasn't as good as later incarnations by a damn sight. It was simply where it all began.

Oh, stop being disingenious. You're the one that requested a civil conversation previously, and yet you keep on grinding your axe against me because I come from a different opinion that tips your sacred cows over. Either make a point, or stop casting aspersions on people.

Grow up. You did pick a most appropriate name.

G1 toys are a part of G1. Unless you got some weird toys.

    Is that why you're "Sledge?"

Indeed. It's a sad state of affairs. I like every era of TFs myself. I take the best parts of every era, the best toys, the best fiction, and enjoy those. I ignore the bad parts as much as possible. Yet, I'm the crazy one here because I will admit that the later toys are better designed, and dislike the whole, "G1 toys are the best evar!!!! Shut up troll!" mentality of the typical G1 fan.

Also, I think that the fanbase is changing. The G1 fans are in smaller and smaller numbers. A vocal minority. A lot of the fans now grew up on/came in from BW. A lot of the fans in the future will come in from AEC. Many came into the fandom cause of the Bay movies. Lots of G1 fans have fallen to RL, marriages, etc and gotten out of the hobby, or lost their time to partake in it. It's growing more diverse.

Thank you for stating something that had to have been said.

You'll have to forgive kidnicky. His humor's still MIB.

What the fuck are you talking about, with all your "sacred cows" shit, you're the one acting like G1 is a religion, not the people trying to explain to you, with I feel ample proof, that G1 is FAR AND AWAY the most well known Transformers show.
And nice call on telling me to grow up,then making fun of me more than once. Really shows your maturity. Now go back to flaming me about toys.

You wanted me to make a point, here it is.
The reason the movies are based on G1 is because prior to the movie it was unquestionably the most well known, most popular TF series. I don't care about anecdotal evidence showing less G1 fans post online, the movies are made for the average person, not hardcore collectors.

I've got to agree with you on that one.

I really loved the new Battlestar Galactica and never missed an episode. Yet if someone says Battlestar Galactica the first thing I think of is the original series. It's not that there was anything wrong with the new show, on just about every level it was better but the original is what I always think of first.

If you said GI Joe comic books the first thing to pop in my mind is the Marvel issues written my Larry Hama. Doesn't mean there aren't other good issues written by other people but the original is the one I think of first.

It's not really an issue of quality and it's not an issue of people can't accept change it's just that we tend to think about the things that started things first. So I can't really see where thinking of the original first is a problem either.
