I'm just saying, there's no need to get worked up when a character acts differently than their namesake. That's like getting all butt-hurt because Rampage in RotF isn't the same as Rampage in Beast Wars who isn't the same as Rampage in G1.

Like with Sideswipe, I never thought he had a very memorable personality in G1 (and I've seen every G1 episode at least 3 times) compared to, say, Ratchet or Soundwave. So having him be completely different in RotF doesn't really bother me. And like I said earlier, at least Ratchet's still the med-bot in the Bay movies. And Soundwave is still a communications-y character.

With a character like Wheeljack, I'd imagine they'd still have him be a scientist. Maybe not bumbling like he was in G1, but a scientist nonetheless. With someone like Hound, I don't know if his personality from G1 really "sticks out" the way others' did, enough to worked up over.

It varies from character to character.

 

No more new characters until either (a) we get more character development of the ones we already have in the films or (b) at least half of the current Autobots get killed off.

 

And what if they didn't? What if Wheeljack was something completely different? Or what if he was indeed this scientist but looked absolutely nothing like the old days.

The problem with the idea of topics like this is that they don't get it. Voting for which G1 character you wish to show up in the next film means nothing, as what will appear in the film will not be the G1 character and that un-likeness can range from apparent to severely obvious.

And for the record, what you glazed over last time in order to go straight for a rhetorical question (since the answer was clearly 'No') was the entire point, but by ignoring it you attempted to turn what was an observational fact about topics like this and turn it into a claim that I just want G1, which - as much as I love Generation 1 - has never been the case. There was nothing 'less important' about the entire post, and should you feel indeed all I've done in this topic is display my want of 'every version of every character to be the same in every Transformers universe', please find said posts and reply to them in kind.

Not that I'm dumping on the thread starter - I just wish that posting a list of classic names and asking which you'd like would actually possibly vaguely end up coming true beyond just the actual name being in the next film and probably nothing else associated with it.

Anyways, currently the voting looks like most people would like someone sorta vaguely Wheeljack-like in TF3. That could happen. At least the name will be the same. He might even be an Autobot too. Dunno about anything else.

I voted Wheeljack, but why can't my bot Trailbreaker get any love? It's been a while since I watched episode1, but I think I remember him being there. If not in the 1st episode, he's definately in the 2nd or 3rd

 

I think Ironhide has taken Trailerbreaker's place. At least in colour and similar alt mode.
Of course, with all the name-slappery that doesn't mean Trailbreaker couldn't show. He can be the pink hot air ballon.
