ok if this has been brought up before dont post any rude comments just lock and post a link to where i should go. moving on. i think it would have been awesome if they had sideswipe(with new design) and sunstreaker in place of mudflap and skids as the comic relief. and if they kept everything the same about sideswipe but just call him tracks and i even think his g1 voice would work quite well and hillarious. seriously just keep all his lines and everything he does in the movie the same but just call him tracks and change his voice. and leave jolt the same too but just call him skids sense he was just a "in the background" kind of dude so whos with me? such small changes could have made this already awesome movie SO much cooler! sorry if this doesnt make much sence or is hard to follow at all but i just ate these brownies i got at a bake sale and i feel kinda weird...
A name is a name is a name, I really don't mind that the twins were Skids and Mudflap and not Sideswipe and Sunstreaker, or that Sideswipe wasn't a prominent character, or why Jolt even needs to be renamed..especially seeing how his name really fit the vehicle.
Heh, I see what you're getting at. But I think the characters are fine the way they are. I just wanted to see more of the other autobots that didn't get enough screen time.
Now, I didn't mind the twins, but they'd be a horrible "movie version" of just about any two previously existing Autobots. If they were going to use existing names for them, then I'm glad they used the names of characters I don't particularly care about seeing done "right" in the movies. If they were supposed to be Sideswipe and Sunstreaker, I would have enjoyed them much less knowing we'd never get an AWESOME version of either.
Brownies are good. I would have enjoyed a more intelligent set of twinned characters for the movie, such as Sideswipe and Sunstreaker. They could have kept the comic banter, but, in a different vain, like they did in many of the comics. This, while displaying their survival, evasion, and outright fighting techniques during their time in the movie. In all seriousness, why would you place the safety and well-being of your most valuable human ally in the hands of the Twins as portrayed in the movie, when you could have had competent and interesting characters like Sideswipe and Sunstreaker in their stead. The latter are characters to aspire to, while the former are characters to be eschewed. It was a bit like having Abbot and Costello guard the bank shipment from Al Capone.
and common how awesome would it have been to have "tracks" in the scene where he cuts sideways in half and then in his g1 voice say, "damn im good" i would have sh** my pants!
ehhh. I don't really care anymore. When i heard about ROTF coming out, i've said the same thing, and i'll say it again. All i want is some big ass robots beating the shit out of each other. My wish was granted... kinda. Give Ironhide some action!!!!!!!
Orci and Kurtzman said at BotCon they wanted Sideswipe and Sunstreaker to be Bumblebee's companions, but during their absence because of the writers' strike, Bay became enamoured with his "dumb twins" idea when he saw the Trax and Beat at GM. He also wanted to put in the Corvette Stingray, whom the writers made into Sideswipe. Personally, I would loved to have seen Sideswipe with Bumblebee, and the Volt as Sunstreaker (just add some solar panels to his wings and whala!)
You know...replacing them with different CGI models and reshooting some vehicle scenes wouldn't be a huge stretch to do (although redoing the Dev fight scene might finally finish off ILM's computers) They tend to have very solitary scenes (I mean not with many other bots except for The couple with bumblebee and the fight with dev) SO I'd say its definatly doable, just a bit pricey. But I think I know an easy way to calm the hastle that has arisen around Skids and mudflap...just rename them Topspin and Twintwist..et voila problem solved, people hate those two anyway. Hell revoicing them would be totally easy too. You know I wouldn't be at all surprised if the version on dvd won't already have had a bit of revoicing work done
