To be honest, I think that I can travel via space-bridge with greater poise and grace than the "mighty" Jetfire.

Yes you guys, he obiously went to a bright colored ringed planet in our soloar system and even then it would take him at least an hour, so they just put in a time lapse.

I think it'd be a simple explanation to just say they're two ships of the same class.

    Nemesis class cruiser?

Firstly, how can anyone 'look' at you in any way on a forum? Secondly, I don't know a great about quantum mechanics or astronomy either, but knowing how long it takes light to travel across our solar system is elementary stuff.

It's not even really a "science" issue anyway. It's almost a basic logic issue.

We see things because light bounces off of it and hits our eyes.

We can see the outer planets via Telescope.

If it took 1,000+ years for light from the sun to get there then it would take just as long for the refracted light to return. Thus, if it took say, 1,000+/- years for light to reach say... Neptune, then any time Neptune was viewed through a telescope we would see it as it was 2,000+/- years ago.

In addition, signals sent to, and received from probes sent to the outer planets would also take a 1,000+ years EACH WAY. We would be able to send messages to them, but we wouldn't receive any replies until 1,000+ years later. This simply isn't the case.

The outer planets are not thousands of light-years away.

The average distance between Saturn and the Sun is about 1,400,000,000 km, which puts it at about 1,250,402,000 km away (average distance between the Sun and Earth is 149,598,000 km).

The Speed of Light is exactly 1,079,252,848.8 km per hour (in a vacuum).

Traveling at the speed of light, it would take a little over an hour to get there, and a little over an hour to get back. Oddly enough, that's pretty much how it's presented onscreen. Megatron leaves Earth, travels to the Nemesis, has a few words with Starscream and the Fallen, then returns what seems to be later on the same day (or the next day at the latest).

So, it would seem that Megatron (as well as Starscream, The Fallen, and those Decepticon Protoforms*) is capable of traveling at, or at least close to light speed in his vehicle form.

Given that the primary obstacle preventing travel at speeds equal to or greater than C (aside from the potential causality violation) is that the energy required to accelerate an object to that speed is infinite, and Sam conveniently explains earlier in the film (and novel) that the Transformers have discovered a method of tapping extradimensional energy sources, Megatron's "little trip" is really not all that much of a stretch.

    * = Presumably, any Transformer can reach this speed in Protoform/Cometary mode and/or some kind of flight-capable alt. mode.

Ummm no. Due to the inconsistencies of the comic books/movie backstory (they contradict one another quite a bit)...there is no way to really tell.

However, in the ROTF comic prequel Defiance, the Nemesis is the ship that leaves LONG before Starscream or Megatron. The Nemesis held the Fallens Sarcophagus, and was commandeered by Soundwave in the beginning of the civil war. They left in search of the Matrix long before the All Spark was even sent into space.

Even with the inconsistencies in plot and backstory, between movie and comic/novel. I believe definitively that there had to be two separate ships, placing the Nemesis on an unknown planet. The later Armada commandeered by Starscream, in search of Megs and the Allspark, is the ship on mars.

As for how long it took him to get there, who knows. I'm not so much of a brainiac that I have to have an explaination for everything I see in a Science fiction (fiction being the KEYWORD)movie. If you have to, just picture a caption in your mind everytime the scene switches to him entering the unknown planets atmosphere. Have it read...." Sometime later". Just because a scene precedes another, does not mean that it must have happened within minutes. There is no unbreakable rule for this? That is just ridiculous if you cannot find a way to explain this to yourself??? There are plenty of movies that say in caption, "sometime later"...or "minutes later"...If you are thinking that hard over everything, you are obviously watching the wrong movie, and you are certainly not suspending you disbelief.

Ladies and gentlemen. Would it have been THAT hard for the writers to work this into the movie's plot/exposition? Y or N?

...No. It would have helped immensely. :lol  Plus, it seems to me like there was no effort made to have any kind of coherent continuity between novels/comics/films that by all means should have been made. :(

I no longer dispute where he went, just the details that are sorely missing. :thumbs2:
I don't know about anyone else here, but I saw ROTF with nothing except the first film to go on.

The movie writers are under no obligation to make the film link up with supporting fiction. That is the job of the writers of the comics and novels and stuff.

Yes, there are two ships with the same name. Starscream and co were never on the ship that took The Fallen into space.

If you mean Starscream, Thundercracker and Hardtop waited on Mars with his battlecruiser (sometimes referred to as Nemesis) while the rest of the Decepticons (excluding the drones) were on Earth. They returned to Cybertron via a space bridge facility the drones had built on Mars in the meantime.

The ship was later destroyed while attempting to flee Cybertron. Most of its wreckage landed on Trypticon, while the remainder landed on Mars.

Oh, I agree, but what I mean is that I needed that kind of exposition to be there. A lot of us did.
To plainly just have him land there and have people assume ambiguous things seems irresponsible. Perhaps someone really did just get lazy and leave it to the prequel writers to sort out? Who knows?

Okay there are 2 theories now.

    1. Nemesis is on the saturn moon and on mars are battleship from screamer. When this is true decepticons are very dumb idiots and unable to fly battleships!

    2. The nemesis explodes in space in transwarp and some parts crashes on mars and some in titan near saturn.

But wait: saturn isnt the only planet with rings in solarsystem, uranus has one too
