I decided to go watch ROTF agian (first time as a movie goer, this time I went as a Transformers fan) and one thing that struck me, as it did with the 2007 movies is that the weapons on the Transformers really don't carry that chracteristic sound they did through-out the life of the franchise. While I myself would love to hear the signature sound of Prime's Rifle or the throaty thump of Megatron's fusion cannon, there are plenty of other choices for weapon effects too not just G1.

So did you like the choice or is there a different noise for some of the fictional Transformers weapons you'd like to hear?

    Any thoughts?

I liked the movie verse sounds. It's neat hearing all the stuff they came up with.

But I do miss Megatron's fusion cannon and Starscreams null ray, which was sadly not reused for Animated. Don't know how well those would've sounded in the live action movies.

one thing I don't get is the seemingly sporadic use of the transformation sound.

Like towards the completetion of the Transform. Just like a noise to signify that it is done (little known fact, the Transformation noise was gleened from the Devo song Auto Mowdown)

Interesting. I watched as a fan 1st, then as a movie geek. Did you have a different opinion of the film... As a TF Fan vs. As a movie goer??? I know I did.

Wow, didnt know that. Do you know what Devo used to actually create the sound? I remember seeing how they created the lightsaber sounds, wild stuff.

Yeah, the Sound Effects are some of my favorite aspects of the movieverse. I also don't mind the Sporadic use of the Original Transformation sound.

100% Agree. The sound effects are masterfully done. I remember getting goosebumps when I heard the tranformation sound with Blackout in the first film.

i got a kick out of when the little ball bearings that would become Reedman started rolling, and the sound of them scratching on the floor made the transformerish sound. that blew me away

Yeah I still remember when he transformed and the whole theater went " WOOOOAHHHHH...." Awesome sound.

I love the movie-verse sounds. They're "alien" sounding. Which is exactly how they should sound. The G1 laser affects would be SO out of place in the movie verse IMO.

Love the sound FX in both movies especially for the bots. So alien yet still mechanial, especially when they move.

Especially like the growling noise Megatron makes. It sounds like its coming from within his body not just from his vocals. Very unnverving and beastial.

I thought the sound effects sounded awesome. That was one of the main things I enjoy about it - the awesome robotic, futuristic sounds! AWESOME!

I'm not saying they all need the G1 sounds, but the PEEW PEEW of the guns kind of lacked that whole "i'ma gonna blow a big hole in something" quality. It may just be down to personal preference as well.
