I'm sure they're ecstatic with the truckloads of cash they're making. This was a deal with the devil as far as I'm concerned though. Who the hell is negotiating for Hasbro when Bay gets 8% of the toy sales?
Let's see, the movie made over $200 million dollars already. The toys are flying off the shelves faster than they were in the 80s. Do we really need a discussion postulating what Hasbro's "position" is on all this? If you just won the lottery would it be it pertinent for people to ask you "how do you feel about winning the lottery?"
No, the other guy was just being a dick, nklesch was the one who really gave that e-peen a good helicopter spin on the new guy's face. Not saying he's wrong, but a little tact you know.
Well can't say that I disagree, but not on the new guy, let him get used to this crazed place first. After the first 100 or so posts, well, its game time. If it was ME posting this I'd have expected such a salvo, cos theoretically I should know better.
Hasbro isn't going to make a public comment on the film, its foolish to expect them to hold a press confrence saying "We don't think the film best represents Transformers" ANYMORE then they would say "We think the film best represents Transformers"...Either way rocks the boat, and the boat is makeing them money. They didn't get to where they are today by doing such foolish things.
Hasbro only makes two types of statements, a statement full of positive spin or no statement at all. It's very unlikely that Hasbro would ever release any sort of statement about concerns over the film's image of Transformers even if they do have parents and fans writing in.
Nah. If they don't learn while they're new, then either; a) they'll keep doing it, or; b) they'll get bored of it and leave before long anyway. We don't want "a," and in case of "b" we might as well make use of the time they're here.
Jesus, some transformers fans. There have been thousands of people who have said "this movie is a pile of shit" which it is. If anyone sees cinematic quality in it, they need to donate their eyes to the blind. Pure mindless rubbish.
Thousands of people might say that privately. That happens to every movie. Someone's not going to like it. That's no reason for Hasbro to take "a position" on it, anymore than anyone else has to take a position on a highly successful and generally popular movie. As for people who think everyone else needs to know how awful they thought it was and decide to write nasty reviews, or post to blogs nobody reads or cares about, or to register for fan message boards in order to pollute them with thread after thread about the same stupid crap... that number is going to be more like in the dozens. Maybe hundreds. That's about enough for Hasbro to be like "Pffft." Sorry.
No, it isn't a shame as it is a PG-13 movie. If they made it PG, they would have had to remove a lot of stuff from the movie and it would have been no where near the mass appeal and made no where close to the amount of money. Your son shouldn't get to see it and there is no reason to make a PG-13 movie acceptable for 6-year olds. Where in my statement did I say I liked or disliked the movie or made a comment to its quality? I didn't. And this thread isn't even about quality, it is about controversy over adult themes not controversy over quality. So way to knee-jerk react that anyone who says anything you disagree with must be a blind movie-lover. I can do it too! "maybe some dumb movie-haters need to donate thier eyes to the blind ebcause they can't see that Hasbro knew what the movie contained and didn't really give a shit because they are making millions." See? I can blindly make rationalizations and attacks on people that seem to disagree with me without actually knowing thier position too!
To be fair, just because they're all "smiles and sunshine" at a public convention doesn't mean they're happy behind closed doors - likewise, just because they are involved in the making of the movie, doesn't mean they control everything that goes on in it. I had previously worked for a company that had been doing a joint venture with another enterprise. It was terrible, they wouldn't talk to us, or listen to our input, they did things without consulting us, etc. - but whenever he had to make a public release, we were "all smiles and sunshine" -because that's business, you don't bite the hand that feeds you, even if that hand slaps you in the face sometimes.
While that is true, I am pretty hard-pressed to believe Hasbro is seriously unhappy with anything in the new film or they were caught of guard by something that slipped in that they didn't know about. You don't try to become an entertainment property and not retain control over your properties or let someone else have cart Blanche to damage your franchises in a way you disapprove of. And the same thing was said after TF1 for Jazz being a racial character and Hasbro didn't have a problem then either and didn't respond to the OMFGCONTROVERSY. Hasbro knew, they either liked it or didn't care, Hasbro has lots more money to spend on making toys.
