I wouldn't say the main villians. If we can find a way to introduce them into the movie-verse continuity, then maybe. Orci and Kurtzman have impressed me alot, I'm sure they can find a way to snug them in, plot hole free.

You mean as side villains that get even less screen time than the Decepticons?

    Still, no thanks.

nope. It mean they fight side by side against the autobots and humans. They could come and contact the decepticons, give them upgrades, accelarate the growth of their hatchlings into more menacing decepticons.

I've had something similar in mind as well. They'd have to redesign the Quints, but I think they could work.

The only problem is that I kinda agree with the notion that including them may take the Decepticons, especially Megatron, out of the limelight as the main downside.

But a Decepticon/Quintesson alliance or something involving Shockwave are what I'd like to see TF3 revolve around.

about the redesign thinggy, they could simply use 4 or more legs instead of levitating/hovering.... that way they could be menacing because they would resemble insects/spiders

More or less how I felt about season three of the G1 cartoon. The Decepticons became hobos and the Quintessons pretty much became the regular bad guys behind the problems the Autobots faced.

    Oh gawd no way! MEGA-SUCK

We need a straight up Autobots vs Decepticons, more back history and maybe tie it all up

Absolutely. In some sort of villainous role. Perhaps using them as 'creators' may not work now, but they can have a multitude of other motivations, perhaps linked to Unicron somehow.
Their threat could be seperate from the TF's history and linked to ours instead.

No thank you. I detested the idea of the Quintessons back in the 80s and still do to this very day.

    Not a bad idea.

One idea I had is that they could keep the levitating, but have the four tentacles act as hands/arms instead of just dangling around as they are often portrayed.

Oh god no. They were probably the ugliest thing I have ever seen in animation history.

    No, no, no, NO!

No Quintessons in the Movieverse. I didn't mind them in the 1986 movie, I just barely tolerated them in G1 season 3, but I do NOT support them for Transformers 3 or for any future Transformers project.

    yeah! they look like wimps

they could look better like this (starCraft 2 Protoss Stalker)

just put those face on the main body and you're done.
of course they can fight like shoot, whip via tentacles, and use their legs.

also they can "transform" into a pod that can hover or even fly. consider the pic to be their alt mode
