Javlins are wicked... I haven't seen/driven one of them in years. And Im not one for manuals to be honest... Good slapstick or that freaky hybrid MoPar has...manual automatic...gosh this has been years..... you take a 727 Torqueflight, with the slapstick (Im sure you know the difference between a 'slapstick' and a regular auto on the floor), there is a custom manual bellhousing you can get for them and other guts..trannys arent really my forte, anyway..takes a few grand but when you are done you have a 727 clutch driven tranny that still retains most of its automatic features. I would imagine other companies have the same aftermarket stuff to do the same with thier trannies, though the MoPar one is the only one Ive heard of..I always wanted one of those.

And yes, I love my 351C...though mine has some weird problem maybe. 58,000 original miles, bad to the bone stock that most people swear isnt (well you know clevelands LOL)...will NOT hold any muffler but a glass pack... you put anything else on it and it will blow it off by about the 3rd time you drive it.... I have traced its history back to the dealership, am 3rd owner, its not been through a lot but it had a glass pack on it when I got it and it made no sense considering everything else was dead factory on it...yea, until I changed it...a week later I was putting on a new glass pack and calling it a day...LOL

Oh and how do you feel about what GM did with Pontiac?

Reminds me there used to be a guy running a blown flathead six at the track that could blow the doors off race built big blocks, damn impressive.
Wow!! Makes me think of the whole sm-blk/B-blk debate...the 318 is one of the very few small blocks I know that can actually beat a big block and in a bad way. The modded 318 I had in my Challenger was always mistaken for a 440 O_O...wow...I mean how can you not hear the difference between a big block and a small block? LOL but I guess some cant?? Whats your take on the whole debate?

Its pretty cool the movie bots have all these details, but its pretty clear the designers didn't think about it much when putting them on...almost like they did a google image search for car parts and just used what they thought looked cool...Works as an inside joke for gearheads, doesn't make much sense, but its fun to notice such things.
I think you hit the nail right on the head there. But for gearheads it does backfire in a bad way me thinks heheh

...uh..yea...if they were meant to be 'real' and legit...why would they think tossing random internal car parts for the cool effect NOT go unnoticed by /us/? I mean think about it...do they really think /we/ are that stupid???

Anyway, maybe the transformers are made of some kind of Metal/Steel Alloy that protects the car parts.
Yea we've been through that...wouldn't matter...some internal flash cleaning or lubricating system that activates automatically as the TF reverts from root mode to alternate is about the only feasible way to explain the 'cool' factor of random car parts all over them on root mode...

Pontiac died with thier 400cid V-8 in 1978. Everything sense has been Pontiac in name only. They used to be the rebels of GM...kicking out the 1963 SD Tempest and such. Even when muscle cars across the board took a nose dive in the early 1970s, they produced the truely last one (1973 SD Trans Am, there wasn't a single factory car produced that year that could hold a candle to it). But GM being the bloated monster it is needed to downsize, designated the SBC the corporate V-8...Made buisness sense, but was sad day none the less.

I know a few Plymouth fans that were crushed when Chrysler axed them. I was always Dodge so guess I dodged (no pun intended) the bullet there (as far as brand loyalty goes) but what are they now really? Their latest 'Charger' aesthetically sucks wet donkey balls at the very least....I sold my last B-body (Charger of course) back in 07 and have been FoMoCo solely ever since....least they are staying legit (lets hope it stays that way)...

And wow, I haven't seen a Tempest in years. LOL!! Last one I 'knew' was this scruffy, white monster of one ... and when I read your comment about it, its image flashed through my mind. LOL

just because it has a camaro engine doesn't mean the big alien robot actually runs on that engine.

Now really, alien metal or no, you can't go transforming a motor into its individual parts like that, expose it to dust and other elements, throw it back together and expect it to work right
their motors are not what moves them in vehicle mode. they're just for disguise. transformers alt modes are just for disguise, their performance isnt dictated by the alt mode, and they sure as hell arent going to limit their mobility just for the sake of having an accurate alt mode.

transformers most likely have a self-contained motor driving each of the wheels independantly, which is how they still break up into alt mode without screwing anything up.

the engine parts, all the mechanical parts of a transformer that are made to replicate things on the alt mode don't actually serve the purpose of the equipment they're disguised as. so them coming apart, getting scratched up, or otherwise damaged doesnt really mean anything to the robot.
