Oh yeah, WTF was with Optimus's end speech?

I loved that they tried to make it a theme for Optimus to open and end the movie, but what the hell did his speech even mean at the end?

"I send this message so you guys can kno me n da humans are tight dawg"

seemed pointless and rushed, they could of thought of something better.

"Our races, united by a history long forgotten. And a future we shall face together. I am Optimus Prime, and I send this message so our pasts will always be remembered. Because it's from such memories that legends are born."

Good speech, but it felt a little rushed and "New Divine" didn't blend in as good as "What I've done" did.

...which is an important distinction, actually. Remember, if the Autobots don't find an alternative to the Decepticons' ideas of terraforming (xenoforming? cybertronforming?) Earth or blowing up its sun to harvest energy, it's been made clear that their race is going to die off. And there you have the point of the speech.

It's kinda fucked up, Optimus is a douche to Cybertronians, in both movies he's destroyed the things that can ensure their races survival.

The Allspark he allowed to be destroyed, the Harvester he blew up himself, It'd be nice in the 3rd movie if Optimus actually makes some effort into saving his race.

Yeah, I'll agree that the speech sounded a bit rushed (more than likely because they wanted to get on with playing "New Divide"), but other than that I liked it. Prime is establishing to Autobots (most likely arriving to Earth) that their alliance with the Humans would remain and that they still weren't that far apart in nature, especially now that they know of both races encountered each other long before their arrival to earth two years ago. At least, that's the gist I got from his message. There's hope for their future and peace betwen both races.

So basically you created this thread to just call Optimus Prime a Douchebag and point out how much of a jerkwad he is to his fellow brothers, not to mention how much you didn't like the speech at the end? Oookay...

He allowed the AllSpark to be Destroyed because he knew Megatron would stop at nothing to obtain it (especially if they tried to hide it from him again. And in reality there was no place to hide that thing then, besides Hoover Dam, because of the energy it gives off. The Decepticons would pick it up immediately and seek it out). He destroyed the Sun Harvester because of what it would do the sun if they had let it be and allowed the Decepticons remaining on Earth to get their hands on it. Optimus Prime is not about to let the humans die just so the Transformers race can survive. I'm pretty sure there are other ways of getting Energon to maintain the survival of their race.

As much as I enjoyed the movie, the ending and Prime's speech did feel rushed, certainly didn't have the coolness the first ending speech had.

I know Optimus wouldn't let out sun be destroyed just to save Seibertron, as I know Optimus wouldn't let Megs have the allspark
(even though he got exactly what he wanted in the end)

Really lets you see the bay-decepticon motivation, they really have a great purpose, they just use horrific ways to achieve it.

I think the opening speech was freaking awesome.

"A race capable of compassion... and violence."

No doubt, i liked the opening speech, the editing right after was a bit weird though, seemed compressed due to time restraints (talking about when the title pops up)

It's like, Fallen (BAM Transformers title BAM shanghai)
Woulda been nice to have a slower transition.

I disagree with the first statement. Prime would rather find a way to save his race without the expense of another. He wants no other race to pay for his ressurection.

But that is a good idea for TF3. Remember The Ulitmate Doom. Megatron had him hit the switch to transport Cybertron into Earth's atmosphere otherwise Cybertron would be catapulted to oblivion as Shockwave so put it. And as Prime put "Have I saved Cybertron... only to destroy the... Earth?"

One idea I've had is that, in Transformers 3, it's revealed there are several secret sources of Energon all over the world, and Prime sets to find it before Megatron and Starscream because he wants to heal his wounded comrades and restore his planet. Prime starts to become obssesed, much like Megatron was for the Allspark, setting the parallels between them. But Prime wouldn't become an Decepticon like Megatron did, off course.
