Everyone seems to want to debate whether the Constructicons that formed Devastator were individually sentient 'cons with robot alternate modes or just components of a whole. Well, I'm tired of that semantic debate. Let me pose a new question that I don't think I've seen on here before: We all know that there's a ton of Constructicons. Supposing for now that the ones that made Devastator were no different than any other Constructicons, I feel that the real question should be whether you all think that any appropriate grouping of the right type of Constructicons can or should be able to make a Devastator, or whether that ability was exclusive to the seven that did so in the film. Because honestly? How cool would a theoretical pack of Devastators be?
i think the Deva in the film is just "one" huge guy. and it is not combine but join the parts together(they are just parts of Deva). it is too huge for him to scan anything on Earth ,so he just separate itself into many parts... to talk about other Constructicons... they may scan the same thing(soundwave did it for them) and have the same alt mode, they cannot combine any way. oh, it is just my opinion but not Bay's.
According to the movieverse, any number of constructicons can form Devastator so it is indeed possible to form more than one Devastator if you have maybe more than 11 constructicons.
there is only one devastator, but he is of variable size, made up of however many constructicons are nearby. that has been confirmed.
