Honestly? except for Prime and 'Bee, they were all pretty unnecessary. The girls could only sort of passive-aggressively hassle Sideways, Sideswipe just shuffled around aimlessly during the desert battle, Jolt was there to basically just take up empty space in the background, Ironhide's one useful moment saw him as the robotic equivalent of a cartoon banana peel, Ratchet was there to point his finger at Jolt and tell him to do something he'd already begun doing, and Jetfire was more useful dead than alive.
The twins were the only useful supporting characters, since they found the Matrix and helped drive the humans around. Which is really pathetic now that I've quantified it like that.. |

I only saw him in truck mode once and then standing in robot mode (no firing) and then running away from an explosion in slow-mo

Dumb and Dumber contributed NOTHING to the plot. Everything they did do could have been replaced with deserving TF1 returners or at least Jolt. Every thing they said could have been replaced by Chris Rock. | |

The twins egt my vote, as mentioned they try to stop sideways, don't even touch him and then get shot in the face in the desert. Atleast Ratchet was helping out in the desrt by constantly shooting (and reloading for that matter). | |
