the forest/factory was the best robot action scene ever created...T4 pales in comparison now...

now we can conclude that Optimus Prime would beat the shit out of Skynet by himself....

Here's what I think they did right.

1.) They had more robots. I'm very happy with that.

2.) Optimus Prime had more dialogue and was seen more besides being a complete badass. THAT WAS AWSOME!

3.) Combination robots anyone? Jet Prime is better than Devestator! :p

4.) Young bots saving the day as always. Humans aren't that bad at doing it I guess, but going on a quest together reminds me of Bumblebee and Spike with Carly. You know? Something about Cybertonium or something like that.

    1. Soundwave. The vocoder voice would've been nice but when we saw him for the first time on screen I genuinely got shivers down my spine.

    2. Wheelie. So much better than his G1 incarnation. Ok, we could've done without the leg humping, but his character really suited him and he was much better as the quirky comedy character than the twins.

    3. Designs. I really loved the designs for the new autobots particularly, though of course the three (five) most stylish and cool new bots didn't have nearly enough time.

    4. More robots in general. Kind of inevetable but goog nonetheless. Of course it would be better if all the Decepticons were completely individual, but form a practical/time/financial point of view, the 'clones' are understandable.

    5. Jetfire. Good character, even if the grumpy old man thing was a fit forced. Great that he was originally a decpeticon, pity he had to die, but it was all in a good cause!

    6. Megatron & Starscream. Good to see their relationship being explored. Megatron as a triple changer was a nice touch and emphasised that he's no ordinary decepticon. Hopefulyl we'll get to see some of the backstabbing!

    1. Starscream - He just felt right all along. In fact, this Starscream makes his actions in the first movie make a looooot more sense. Especially his running away at the end.

    2. Jetfire - I love that character. He's possibly my favorite movie character so far. I don't know why, but that confused old man routine somehow worked. And his cane actually made sense as he was literally falling apart due to lack of Energon. And the fact that he was an SR-71 and that his weapon of choice was a badass axe.

    3. Soundwave - He was properly menacing and terse.

    That was... it?

    1. The opening sequence. Tight, well done with enough fun for all involved.

    2. NEST. That in and of itself was an excellent concept that deserved more screen time than it got.

    3. The forest battle. I'll take you all on indeed.

    4. Sideswipe, was propperly cool and arrogant, though I would have given my left nut for Sunstreaker too and some Jet Judo, was well designed and well played.

    5. Starscream and Megatron now feel more like characters than placeholders. They seem to have a real relationship and a rocky, antagonistic one at that.

    6. Ron Whitwicky, I don't know what Kevin Dunn did to channel the emotion he did when he refused to let his son go on alone, but it worked, crimity it worked.

Starscream/Megatron interaction and some of Starscreams lines were true to character.

Jetfire I liked but probably because he sounds english although his "I'll be an autobot now" decision was badly handled.

"Some" of the twins was OK.

Ravage/Rampage I liked with his haunches mounted guns

Other than that I thought it was a huge let down.

How the movie makes an absolute fortune and Transformers Animated gets canned is beyond me!

The action sequences; and in particular the forest fight, were incredible. The pointless jokes and dragged out search quest; not so much. Basically everything that was done to bridge the amazing action pieces together felt a bit lacking (to me). I just couldn't get into a plot that felt like it was literally being written on the fly. Still despite an extremely weak plot, I was very entertained when the bots were fighting and things were blowing up.
