Look. I'm 35 years old. I have watched every incarnation of the transformers franchise there is. Personally all pale in comparison to
G1, but I watched each with an open mind knowing that THAT set or writers would put their own spin on it.
So to all you haters of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen....
All I have read is who everything was ruined, not needed, vulgar, geeze people its a freakin' movie. Put the remote down, stop streaming it from teh internet and go get some sun and relax.
Here's my take on most everyone’s gripes about the film:
Mudflap and Tracks - You seriously thought they were racist? Have you been around a teenager these days? It doesn't matter what race they are THEY ALL TALK LIKE THAT. They had some of the funniest lines of the film.
Alice - The character made sense when they were looking for the fragment as a means to track Sam/eliminate Sam. I felt she should have switched focus once Michaela showed up with the fragment but you can't argue that Bumblebee vs. Alice in the car was not one of the funniest scenes you've seen this year outside of pretty much anything in The Hangover.
Wheelie - Again, if you think about it a small scrapper robot like that would have that kind of attitude because it would be everyone’s servant, would be exposed to everything.
Sam's parents - I am a parent. When I took my wife to see it, between the laughs (they were hysterical) she must have said "That's so us" about 6 times. Every college I have been to there is always some group of people supporting pot legalization. It's no surprise Sam's college would be any different.
Dogs screwing - Us owners of small dogs realize the humor and truth behind the scenes involving those 2 dogs. Our small dog is CONSTANTLY humping the bigger dog (who at this point just doesn't care anymore). It's a dominance thing. and ITS FREAKIN' funny.
Jetfire - HE WAS OLD. People, go to an old folk’s home and tell me they don’t talk in disconjointed phrases and cut loose with bodily functions like that.
Optimus and The autobots killing decpticons - ITS WAR. Seriously it's that simple. Compassion is one thing, but when your enemy shows ZERO remorse especially for civilians then they need to be dealt with in a manner that will ensure their behavior stops.
Sam's death and resurrection - If you can't see the fact that the transformers arrival on earth is not part of their OVERALL destiny then you clearly have not watched enough of the other series. It's clear as day that in TF3 somehow EARTH (most likely via Sam) is going to play a HUGE part in how they bring life back to cybertron. I almost think its going to be akin to Beast Machines where the Autobots realize that "organic" things can help them provide energy and life. SO why should the "Original Seven “summon Sams spirit to them in order to ensure his destiny (their legacy) is met. Made perfect sense.
Devastator's balls - Ok, yes stupid, but it was still funny.
Simmons jock strap - That's just Tuturo. I guarantee that was his idea.
Leo - Everyone of us has that annoying friend that we love to death. That's Leo. His interactions and physical comedy moments were some of the best in the film.
Overall I think the writing and directing teams did a VERY good job of making these events seem like they could really happen and what people and robots would be like/act like in these same events. That’s what you want from a film.
