So to all you haters of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen....

All I have read is who everything was ruined, not needed, vulgar, geeze people its a freakin' movie. Put the remote down, stop streaming it from teh internet and go get some sun and relax.

Here's my take on most everyone’s gripes about the film:

Mudflap and Tracks - You seriously thought they were racist? Have you been around a teenager these days? It doesn't matter what race they are THEY ALL TALK LIKE THAT. They had some of the funniest lines of the film.

Alice - The character made sense when they were looking for the fragment as a means to track Sam/eliminate Sam. I felt she should have switched focus once Michaela showed up with the fragment but you can't argue that Bumblebee vs. Alice in the car was not one of the funniest scenes you've seen this year outside of pretty much anything in The Hangover.

Wheelie - Again, if you think about it a small scrapper robot like that would have that kind of attitude because it would be everyone’s servant, would be exposed to everything.

Sam's parents - I am a parent. When I took my wife to see it, between the laughs (they were hysterical) she must have said "That's so us" about 6 times. Every college I have been to there is always some group of people supporting pot legalization. It's no surprise Sam's college would be any different.

Dogs screwing - Us owners of small dogs realize the humor and truth behind the scenes involving those 2 dogs. Our small dog is CONSTANTLY humping the bigger dog (who at this point just doesn't care anymore). It's a dominance thing. and ITS FREAKIN' funny.
Jetfire - HE WAS OLD. People, go to an old folk’s home and tell me they don’t talk in disconjointed phrases and cut loose with bodily functions like that.

Optimus and The autobots killing decpticons - ITS WAR. Seriously it's that simple. Compassion is one thing, but when your enemy shows ZERO remorse especially for civilians then they need to be dealt with in a manner that will ensure their behavior stops.

Sam's death and resurrection - If you can't see the fact that the transformers arrival on earth is not part of their OVERALL destiny then you clearly have not watched enough of the other series. It's clear as day that in TF3 somehow EARTH (most likely via Sam) is going to play a HUGE part in how they bring life back to cybertron. I almost think its going to be akin to Beast Machines where the Autobots realize that "organic" things can help them provide energy and life. SO why should the "Original Seven “summon Sams spirit to them in order to ensure his destiny (their legacy) is met. Made perfect sense.

Devastator's balls - Ok, yes stupid, but it was still funny.

Simmons jock strap - That's just Tuturo. I guarantee that was his idea.

Leo - Everyone of us has that annoying friend that we love to death. That's Leo. His interactions and physical comedy moments were some of the best in the film.

Overall I think the writing and directing teams did a VERY good job of making these events seem like they could really happen and what people and robots would be like/act like in these same events. That’s what you want from a film.
This doesn't change anything that the movie itself, in cinematic terms is an abortion. It's Anti-Cinema.

I agree with EVERYTHING that the topic creator said. I just came back from my 4th viewing and I'm still dumbstruck at how people could think this is a bad film.
LOL

You need to watch more films kid.

Also having someone give exposition towards the end of the movie is bad storytelling.

Hi tac2m. I agree with what you have written. You have pointed out the facts that could've annoyed people, and yet they aren't such big issues after all. Personally, I enjoyed the movie although I wished the story could've not been dragged too much in the middle.

It's sad that there are so many people who just complain here and there, and also make it a very big issue.. =S

It is suppose to be a popcorn flick. Either you enjoy it or you don't. If you do, just soak up all the great CGI and big robots bashing each other up.

If you don't and TF/ROTF is not your cup of tea, there is always something else to watch.

And finally, it is only a movie, dammit. Why getting worked up over it? Frankly, I am getting a bit peeved at some who tries to shove their hegemony and their so-called "indisputable opinions" down to other ppls throats.

Peace,
Tcracker

That's the thing, TF1 was enjoyable as a popcorn flick. ROTF wasn't, it was plodding and incoherent, and featured large amounts of humans shooting the camera whilst there were some explosions all around them.

I'm pretty easy going, if I say so myself..and I'm not looking for fault when watching movies. With ROTF it was kind of hard though, since the 'faults' where pretty much an aggressive elephant in small one way street..hard to steer around. For me at least.

It's good you liked the movie, but how about we all come to an agreement? One side can at least ACCEPT that there are flaws in this movie, more extreme ones compared to the first one (itself not being flawless), and just say 'but I liked the movie', and the other side can accept that people DID like the movie and we can all go on with our lives.

The main problem I see since ROTF's release is there's a big group of people that feels the need to claim that there was nothing wrong with ROTF, or that it was the best movie ever made, and then there's another group that cannot handle the fact people had fun watching it. And inbetween, there's people that either liked the movie but acknowledge the flaws, and people that didn't like the movie but don't feel the need to talk about about people who did. And what happens? People of the previously mentioned 'extreme' groups are quick to sort these people into the 'haters ' camp or the 'dumb sheep' camp.

And please.. stop asking for a jack-off smiley . But maybe somebody can make a picture of John Turturro flashing his string-clad ass. I heared alot of people liked that image!

ROTF was not, in traditional terms, a great film. The story isn't anything special (although I honestly don't see a lot of the 'plot holes' people are talking about), and the acting isn't exactly award-winning (not terrible either).

But the thing is, and this is what a lot of people are forgetting, is that it wasn't trying to be a 'great film', it was trying to a fun, stupid, escapist experience where you just let yourself get taken along for the ride. Which, by the way, is what most Transformers media was meant as.

In any interview I've seen with him, Bay makes no assertions that his movies are meant as anything other than dumb fun. In fact I remember one interview where he openly says that his movies are meant as "guilty pleasures", or something to that effect.

Now, if that's not your thing, fine. But it seems a little odd to hate something for not being something it was never trying to be. It'd be like hating an apple for not tasting like an orange.

Iron Man and The Dark Knight can be more intellectual movies because the source material already has a strong intellectual background. Transformers, on the other hand, has mostly been just about fun entertainment that allowed you to escape from the crap of everyday life and go to a place where you really could believe that a car you see on the street really could just stand up and start talking to you (or try to kill you). Beast Wars/Machines and some of the comics are pretty much the only places Transformers has tried to go into deeper intellectual territory, and even then a lot of it just came across as self-reference and fan-wank.

So all in all I think that ROFT did it's job. It knew how silly it's premise was and so it decided the best option was to go all out and just have fun with it. Yes, some of the characters were a little too over the top, and yes, the last half could've used some better editing, but I decided I wasn't going to let that bother me, and I had fun.

If you didn't have fun, then that's too bad.

Why be a hater? I dunno ask one of the little group here why they do it.

I'm not talking about the people who honestly disliked the movie, thats perfectly cool.

I'm talking about the little group of about 7-8 posters on this board that have tracked each and every move these movies have made for the past 4 or more years and repeatedly stuck the knife in at every opportunity with glee.

Like it or not it's a fact that there ARE some people here that enjoy attacking these movies, it brings them pleasure of some sort, they get a laugh from saying how shit each little new tidbit of information is and by vaguely insulting those that have enjoyed the movies. To put it bluntly, they are trolls.

Fortunately such behavior is easily remedied by adding them to the ignore list. Thus depriving them of the attention they so greatly desire.
