You have to bring your peace, love and understanding into this argument? What's wrong with you? Don't make sense and ruin our arguments! Giving me Grinch moments with my heart growing three sizes, making me ease up on the Bayformers lovers. Jerkface.

Sorry. Beast Wars is Transformers too. You can't say they are not "actual Transformers" when Starscream, Ravage and Walther P38 Megatron all showed up. Heck, Beast Wars saved the G1 continuity, both in terms of storyline and literally - Beast Wars resurrected Transformers as a viable commodity, after G2's dwindling sales.

What you're advocating is your personal canon. It's not official canon. It's just you venting what you think are the requirements for "real Transformers".

That's a stupidly elitist attitude to take. How dare you say a child who has only known Animated and the live-action movies but loves the series not be considered a "true fan"? How dare you say fans of Beast Wars are not "true fans"?

It's your personal canon. You can choose not to regard the Megatrons from Beast Wars, Animated, the Unicron trilogy, etc. as not being the real guy. But it boils down to your personal preferences.

The "New" fan loves TF2 because it makes a lot of money, the "new" fan thinks that all the action scenes & crass jokes is what Transformers is ALL ABOUT. The "new" fan wants the Real Fans to be quiet and stop REMINDING everyone what The Transformers actually are.

That is the difference. I won't argue the point either, we know where we stand, the new guys are just going to have to convert or suffer from the gospel.

the movie is made for public not for the true fans... its just sad that bay can really make a decent CGI transformers.. why not at least stay true? i mean yes they cant use soundwave as a radio with cassette tapes but the story, the plot, characters etc etc at least pay homage to the true origin which is G1...
And neither of you get that Transformers' core market has always been children? Children who tend to, you know, outgrow the Transformers? That means they have to keep the Transformers updated every few years.

I grew up on G1. I like G1. I'm actually lukewarm towards the movies.

I see no justification for having such an inflated superiority complex with G1 vis-a-vis other series, when it took a MUNKY PRIME and LIZARD MEGS to rebuild interest in the Transformers.

I don't know about all those names, but SPEILBERG is definitely guilty of that promise!!! The "whole "boy and his car" thing was Speilbergs idea inspired by Spike and Bumblebee.
TF3 is our only hope for a successful Transformers Film

It might have been magical if it were directed by spielburg, the transformers might have had faces too.

Remember how in season 3 of the G1 cartoon, we learned that the minds of dead Autobot leaders were inside the Matrix of Leadership and that the Matrix bearer can commune with them in it? Remember in the Marvel comics how Simon Furman tied the life-giving Creation Matrix program together with the physical Matrix of Leadership vessel? Remember how in Beast Wars (generally accepted as a G1 sequel, and part-and-parcel of the G1 mythos), Rhinox was able to fish Optimus Primal's soul out of the Allspark, which again is tied to the Matrix? Yeah, "Robot Heaven." Right there. Who might we expect to see there? Past leaders... like maybe... the Primes?

Also, remember that time in the Marvel G1 comics when Optimus Prime was dead and the Witwicky kid had the Matrix inside of his head, and the Decepticons were after him to get it, and he kept going nuts with all of this alien knowledge and weird math in his head, and then he had to bring Optimus Prime back to life? Oh hey, that happened in the movie too.

There is a seemingly endless amount of stuff like this that's hidden in there specifically for us, the longtime G1 fans, and you really don't have to reach far to uncover it. And what do we, the "true fans" do? We spit on it. Or ignore it. We complain about Devastator's "balls". We yell at each other on Internet forums from behind a keyboard, as if only our own opinions matter. We completely miss the deliberate homage to things that only a hardcore TF nerd would know about, as if we're not even familiar with it. "True fan" my hairy behind.
Those little homages are indeed nice. I highly enjoyed the "Witwicky Matrix in the head" homage. However, it is a thin line between making valid complaints and nitpicky. The validity of complaints are really all in the eyes of the complainer. Though we do continue to yell and yell and yell...keyboard warriors, indeed.

And colored me shocked, I had no idea that the "robot heaven" scene was a complaint.

Michael Bay may not have raped my childhood, but I think he may have molested it.

Alright I'll counter. My feelings are bolded.

Please tell me how these things stayed true to G1:

1. The two most offensively racist caricatures since Buckwheat and The Looney Tunes Crows.
Good god I wish people would get off of this... I meet guys like that of varying races every day. That you see them as a stereotype is sort of an indictment of what one thinks a racist stereotype is... they weren't even that over the top. Remember Cosmos- the alien spaceship that spoke with a spanish accent? What about g1 Jazz and Blaster? They were about as stereotypically black as these guys.
2. Devastator with balls.
A sight gag. That's gonna kill the franchise, just like Spike saying "Oh shit!" in the g1 movie. It was what like 30 seconds of the movie? Heinlad had testicles too... Heinlad's toy had "balls" and lets not discuss the Universe Streaker/Swipe thing...
3. Jetfire the robo-pirate who farts fire.
There were farts in Beast Wars friend.
4. Wheelie the Decepticon who humps legs.
A lame unneeded sight gag. Agreed.
5. Marijuana humor.
G1 featured a drunk decepticon crew "overenergized." Innuendo, yep, same basic premise? Yep.
6. Dogs screwing.
Again, unneeded, but a standard dog joke.
7. The fact that 90% of the Transformers were relegated to side characters while the G.I. Joe characters fight the good fight.
Um, I saw all the Autobots fighting or firing guns at some point. Everyone was a side character except Op, Megs, Screamer, the Twins, Bee, Sam and Mikaelya. How exactly, prey tell, will all these extra bots get more screen time? I easily saw more robot fighting than the military.
8. Optimus Prime the Punisher executing disabled Decepticons with extreme prejudice.
Transformers is a "childrens cartoon." Optimus Prime has never executed foes as such. But in ROTF, the DCons were going to cut Sam's brain out, then he got jumped by 3 Decepticons. It was kill or be killed... Demolisher had killed hundreds, and when Prime asked him to pull over, it was ignored. This ain't a kids cartoon, so when the baddies leave little choice, they're killed. He let Megs and Screamer get away.
9. Alice the robo-slut with her stabby penis tail and lasso tongue.
Pretenders are a part of the TF Universe, and assuredly, would have been used in this fashion to seduce and aquire info from human targets.
10. Robot heaven. With clouds. And a human guy who goes there. ROBOT HEAVEN.
Um wow. Did you ever watch G1? Rodimus traveled into the Matrix and spoke to past Primes. It happened. This ain't that far fetched, whether you liked it or not.
Really, true to G1? Really, fan-pleasers? Really???
They tried. Maybe they tried to add too much, and had some poor execution at points, but they tried.
