I mean, seriously? Your hatred of a MOVIE requires that much validation that you want people to join in your little revolution, Spartacus-style?

"I hate RotF!" "No, I hate RotF!" "No, I'M Brian!", and so on...

I've already been told I have no taste in movies because I like RotF, and that pees me off no end. I watch all different kinds of movie, why should liking this make me any less of a person? I mean, seriously.

I couldn't care less if people apart from myself like the damn film or not. However, I do take exception to people telling me to 'avoid' this movie, because they personally don't like it. Seriously folks, your opinion just isn't that important that you should be telling people to either go or not go to ANY movie. Just tell people whether you liked it or not, and then let people make up their own minds from there.
oops. looks like someone missed the point of the thread.

You guys should take a look at the GI joe forums (hisstank.om). I post there occasionally and boy - is the mood BLEAK! Everyone there hates Stephen Sommers and have given up hope on the live action film. Its quite depressing.

We'd talk about our favorite toys, favorite moments, which series we liked and which ones we didn't. And we'd all have a good time and nobody would be acting like a big mouthed, tough guy asshole. It would be fun, good times.
Nice to see someone put this into words; I think about this very phenomenon every time I see people raging at each other on the boards about something. If people were sitting across from each other, enjoying a pleasant discussion, nobody would be speaking in the fashion that so many seem willing to write here.

seth: Don't you feel like it takes away from the authenticity of your collection?
ams: Dude, you own three different unlicensed City Commander toys and a half dozen fake third-party Prime trailers. WTH?

Exactly. Some people like it, others do not. Just because someone has a differing opinion, doesn't make that opinion better or worse, it's just different.

The bottom line is if you have an opinion be prepared to defend it. If you loved or hated the movie, be able to state why. Empty statements such as "because it sucked" do not count. I have read threads where haters and lovers alike were able to rationally discuss the film with no trolling, no flaming. Why, because everyone was able to back up their opinion with well thought out reasons.

Most people don't 'hate the haters'. Just like most people don't hate the hardcore supporters. What I hate is the mental retardation that these extreme groups seem to share. Any rational or reasonable response is simply overlooked as two groups of morons throw internet feces at each other.

Mind you, watching the mentally challenged having a go at each other is incredibly entertaining so this forum is insanely busy.

Explanation is simple. It's called "Transformers".

If it was called anything else, I'm pretty certain most people defending the film right now would be in the hater camp instead.

Yes, how dare we hate the film. The thing is, I am a cinemaphile FIRST, Transformers fan SECOND. I've spent a considerably larger sum of money on my film collection than I have on Transformers merchandise and I've also written quite a few film reviews as a freelancer. I could make a nasty remark of some people not having any trouble switching their brain off because it requires virtually no effort from their behalf, but I'm not like that.

Part of it is that people have moved past bashing the pro critics so now they are going after their fellow fans.

The other part is people still think they can win the internet. That somehow you can either make it the greatest film in the history of film or the worst film in the history of film if you can just run off the other side. You'd think at some point it would since in that every film ranges for people who loved it to people who hated it, but some people never learn.

i think a lot of the flaming is because many of the complaints and arguments that haters and critics are making don't really make sense. like how they say there was no plot.
