oh noes, it's failing at the box office! it must be he worst movie evar! quickly, everyone who likes it anyway, throw yourselves off cliffs!

on the serious side, this is a good sign for the global economy. more spending means more disposable income, so the world may be bouncing back! well not so much bouncing as gradually stumbling up but meh.
I dodged a bullet, but then i fell onto a landmine.

No, it simply means that when times are rough people will continue to go to the movies to escape their troubles like they've always done historically. A movie's success the least dependable sign of a stumbling up effect.

And congrats to ROTF.

Weekend estimates are in.

Weekend Box Office Results for June 26–28, 2009

There it is. 112 million for the weekend. Estimated.

This puts it 2.6 mil behind The Dark Knight's five day opening. TF2 totalled 201.2 mil over 5 days.

Let's all help it get that 2.6 mil today and be the fastest five day grosser ever.

Now, ROTF has no competition for the next 2 weeks, so the numbers should stay firm.
