i really liked his design and his role in the film, but like most, i wish he had come down to earth for the final battle. a one on one between him and Sideswipe or Ironhide would have been awesome.

 

But soundwave wasn't much of a fighter he was more of info for megatron and used to use ravage and rumble and lazerbeak to do his fighting for him.,.

Plus if he came to earth Mr BAY would use the army to kill him off very quickly...

 

He needed his vocoder. Also, Apart from being related to Ravage somehow and the voice, he wasn't Soundwave. He didn't DO ANYTHING! They could have called him any random name, but they called him Soundwave to say "HAH! Now fans can't complain that Soundwave wasn't in the film!"

 

Ditto that. If the it was vocoded, it would've been extremely hard to understand what he's saying, what with the already deep and gutteral voice.

 

ah but soundwave is the kind of con that sits back and lets his minions do the dirty work, like in g1, like in the movie. why would the communication specialist come down to earth when he was more useful to megatron up there in space spying? he was protrayed perfectly. and his voice without vocorder was perfect for movie soundwave, cold and meanacing, like soundwave

 

Some of you guys act like Soundwave is a pacifist or something, he's still a Decepticon. G1 Soundwave was at the forefront of practically every Decepticon attack beside Megatron, he wasn't afraid to get his hand dirty when he needed to...

Bit of a disappointment that he never transformed or busted some Autobot heads. But yeah overall I was very happy with everything about him: from the voice, to the face, to the alt mode. The only thing missing was some interaction with Megs/Starscream, a must for TF3.
