I think it would work!!! But if I had to pick I would pick Guillermo del Toro , cause I think he's the best with things that aren't human.

Also I am happy to see that many here like the idea when I saw this topic I clicked in just to see how much people would cut the guy down. I have always loved Lucas' work!

George is not a director anymore.
he gave us Star Wars episodes IV-VI, but after that....
his best work for Cinema was the technology side of the biz.
Without him, no Dinos, no Transformers, and No Dinobots in TF3 (?)

He plagiarized himself to orgasm in the prequels, so i wouldn't let him touch a script.

just hand over the work on TF3 to ILM and forget about GL as a director/producer.

While Peter Jackson, James Cameron & Michael Bay make nice long 2 1/2 - 3 hour long movies Lucas would make sure a Transformers movie would be 1 1/2 hours long. NO THANK YOU!!! Episode III should have been 3 hours long, I'm still pissed it was so short & all the battles were cut short. The opening scene from Episode III was friggin ridiculous, I heard it opens with Anakin & Obi-Wan flying through the biggest space battle in movie history & look at what we actually got. The battle was nothing more than background scenery. Just imagine how short & hacked up the final battle of ROTF would've been if Lucas did it. Scorponok & Prime combining with Jetfire would have been cut for sure!

Stupid question but...why not Sam Raimi? Spider-Man 1 and 2 were amazing.

The twist would be that the Autobots are actually trying to wipe out their race and the Decepticons are actually trying to save it.

Of course they were! I honestly want Michael Bay to direct Transformers 3. I was just going with the flow of the thread; if there were to be another director. All I'm saying is that if Michael Bay were to quit or get fired (I hope not), Sam Raimi is one of the few directors I'd like to see for a new TF movie.

You said it! I mean...sure, Spider-Man 3 has its few good moments. But, other than that, it was slow and I felt like I was watching a soap opera at times. Not to mention, Venom got killed WAY too damn quickly. That's what infuriated me the most because I had been wanting to see Spider-Man fight Venom on screen for years.

Though John Williams is great, I'd rather stick with Steve Jablonsky, or at least a collaboration between the two. I love the scores of the first two films and that's one part of the films I never want to see change.

I agree with red4. Having John Williams AND Steve Jablonksy? Holy fuck. Both their music makes the fight scenes in Star Wars/Transformers epic and having both composers would make TF3 the best movie ever. IMO.

Peter Jackson, Christopher Nolan, Zack Snyder, these are the names I like to hear when discussing directors.

George Lucas, M. Night Shyamalanadingdong, Ang Lee, Joel Schumacher, these are names I don't like to hear so much.

Hell, if done at the right angle, I think even Tim Burton could make a half-decent Transformers flick. It's a stretch, but it would still turn out better then anything Lucas could do.

You know, I've never liked Micheal Bay. Some of his films were okay, I liked the Rock... but as a whole I thought he was a horrible director. I was dismayed when he took on Transformers. But, that IMO turned out great. And, dispite some arguable point... ROTF is also great.

I guess my point would be, George may have dropped the ball with the new SW films.... but maybe Transformers would bring out the best in him like with Bay. He's been with SW for so long and he has complete control... but with Transformers he will have some limits... which is a good thing when talking about Lucas. It would be cool to see my two favorite properties come togther. So I wouldn't be against it. -in addition... he gets an ILM discount. :D

My first choice is still Speilburg. He'd bring a sence of wonder to Transformers that I feel was missing in ROTF.
